Hey there Kat
Just thought I'd pop in and say Hi!
I've seen you around at the Bookworm's club as our new teagirl and anyway thought I'd just be friendly and introduce myself!
I'm also at school about to do AS in September. What subjects etc. do you? I'm taking Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Geography.
?

Kat - From H2G2 Posted Aug 13, 2003
yay! !
I'm taking Physics, Geography, German and Eng Lit, so on at least two of those we can prop each other up...or more likely you can prop me up
I'm desperately trying to get started on the flipping review for Driving Over Lemons but I can't even remember what one puts in a review!
Help!
Kat
PS. Hey by the way and nice to see you
Hey Kat

Yeah! A friendly reply!
Hmmm...having not written a review before for the guide I'm not really an expert. But probably a brief plot summary that doesn't give too much away, the main characters and a bit about them, maybe something about the context it's set in?
I'm not sure maybe ask Z- the Scout who still can't spell? I'm sure he'll know!
And if I can help at all please ask! Although I may be needing help with Physics as I haven't done it for GCSE. So could be a bit tough. But now they're talking about letting students not do GCSE and going straight to AS! What do you think?

I have to admit that I hadn't actually heard about that. You see I'm hiding my head in the sand because people keep coming and telling me that GCSEs are worthless and it's not something I need just before the results come out! Doesn't that suggest that all the slogging, relaxing, crying, and chilling was for nothing?
So what's the thing with the ASs? Would they study them for two yers or what? Or would we churn kids out of school earlier?
How come you didn't do physics for GCSE? Didn't you have to do all the sciences? Or do you mean you did the dual award or what? I like physics although I'm not that hot on it, I will help all I can. I'm VERY hot on Geography though. I was supposed to get one of the top 6 grades in the country, but I mucked up and answered a question completely on something the question wasn't about.
So where do you live? What are you like? Tell me things about yooouuu!

It's actually seems a tad stupid that they think people are ready to do A-level with GCSE. I mean where do you start from? It all builds on each other! I don't want to have qualifications that mean nothing! What a waste of time! I don't know how it would work, maybe 4 years doing A-level or something. Seems generally impractical.
Well at my old school in Zimbabwe we did single sciences and only Biology was compulsory. I love Chemistry in general so I did that but everyone said Physics was boring and useless so I didn't do it and did Geography instead. So that's basically the problem as I want to do a Chemistry degree and go into Chemistry but most unis want Physics and Maths too for that so that's why I'm doing them.
But I also love Geo so I'm not sad I took it. Gee seems like you're definitely on the brainy side for Geography! Wow have you had the results yet?
For IGCSE (the international GCSEs) I took English Language, Eng. Literature, Maths, Geography, History, French, Chemistry, Biology and Textiles. Did really well which made it all worth while
I live in Rochester, Kent. I'm 17, female, brown curly hair and brown eyes, play lots of clarinet and sax. LOVE reading, chocolate, Star Trek. Actually it's all in my user page U231111. (sorry if that sounds cheeky!)
Quite a long post for me!

I'll admit that straight after I posted that last one I went and looked at your page actually.
I don't see how the no GCSE thing will work either. I'm just ignoring it for the moment. Results come out next Thursday so I'll just sit around and wait for that. I've got to take a 2 hour train ride to get them so it had better be worth it!
Physics is....*whispers* fun. I enjoy it!
I added you to my friends list. Was that alright? I would have asked normally but I was really chuffed that I'd managed to acheive something using GuideML.

Cool! I'll add you too! Finally another friend! Never a bad thing!
So what about you? Interesting traits etc?
Hope the results are good! Wow 2hrs on the train! Can't they post them to you or something? Although I guess it's the atmosphere of everyone else screaming and crying that makes it special!
I wasn't one of the screaming/crying type by the way. Not too hysterical so no worries!
GuideML is great but I hate making mistakes because I never know what I've done wrong and the 'helpful' little red notices never make sense. I'm attempting to improve my user page at the moment with a guest book etc. (will probably just copy someone's though because I don't understand the GuideML clinic entry on them!)

Ah now the guestbook is easy and they are all the same so here you go:
for the forum number, click on your space as if you wanted to leave a message. The number then shows in the address bar. Put that into where my number currently is.
Kat, you're so exciting I've just GOT to talk to you...
Interesting traits....erm...well I like to watch people, I don't jump to conclusions too fast, I'm really really really really shy in real life, I have a brother caled Matthew, I've got a dog called Daisy, I've got darkish brown hair and quite pale skin. I like most types of music although I've got a special weakness for ska and 80s.
I go to boarding school, as you know, and I hate it.
Results, well, my friend Yaz and I are going to go down together, get our results and then retire to Wetherspoon's before opening them. That way we won't have to tell anyone what we got and if we burst into tears or laugh manically there's no problem. I guess I'm going down to get them because I want to see other people doing the screaming/crying thing but not participate myself. Also it's a nice day out.
What results did you get?
Hey Kat
weberquetzal Posted Aug 14, 2003
Thanks will try the guestbook!
Yes...an interesting person! I wouldn't have survived the day without thinking of 80s music!
I'm a Beatles/Abba fan. Maybe that's sad, haven't decided yet!
I got 6A*s and 3As (although that may not sound brilliant compared to GCSE results) that was pretty darn good for me! I was really pleased. But I don't go around telling people, in fact I usually tend to play down myself.
Hmmm...I wonder how many other people on here are actually incredibly shy? I know I have to force myself to speak to people in real life but here it's easy. Strange maybe it's not having to look at people or something? Not sure.
Stowing away in Wetherspoon's is probably a great idea. Hopefully you don't end up finding the rest of the year in there too! Would kind of spoil the novelty!
Hey Kat

Oh good point...nah they won't all go there! Maybe they will go to McDonalds or something! I've been saving money so I can afford to go to wetherspoons specially!
Try the guideML. If you have any trouble I'll check it out for you.
6A*s and 3As is flipping brilliant!!! You have no idea what that compares to GCSEs as! Someone getting 6A*s and 3As is blooming clever!!!
I think maybe on here it's different because you don't have to actually properly interact with the people. You can say what you have to say and then go away.
I don't think being a fan of those bands is sad. I mean I'm a fan of Madness and Alice Cooper so I definitely can't say anything.
Oh my mate has been badgering to get her website more publicity so here you go. It's amusing and hopefully interesting, quite a lot of it is down at the minute but never mind. Don't forget to take part in the question of the month!
