I just want to go on the record with the statement that Bloodhag is one of the greatest bands ever. They are a small Seattle-based heavy metal group of nerds who play short songs about science fiction and fantasy authors.
I saw them in February at a music festival for their label, Local Chaos, and have really respected the heck out of them ever since.

You don't need a demographic. If you enjoy what you do enough, you can't help but form a demographic.

Gave it a try... they're very , but not really my style. It bugs me when I can't make out the words. Guess I'm a wordy sort of person.
Talk wordy to me

Yeah, they're not for everybody. On their webpage, there is a link to the lyrics of most of their songs, if that helps. Kinda follow along-ish.
I love these guys.
Hm... will you be referring to form or content? The Formalists were all about that you know. But don't get me started on the Formalists, they drive me crazy, we've studied them at least three times by now...

*Nods* 'not for everybody' seems right. Generally, heavy metal is the sort of music I can tolerate, but wouldn't actually listen to. I'll give the lyrics a try some time though.
I have to say though that I've got even more respect for my Babylon now, for finding me who Doris Lessing was. That was neat.

Hip hop? (shiver) I usually try to keep my distance from it, but especially today. You can't turn on a radio without hearing those House of Pain yahoos singing "Jump Around".
...Yeah, they're Irish, kinda. But geez. Now Floggin Molly, yeah. You got a case for playing them.
But House of Pain?
Eh. I hate St. Patricks day.
It's bad enough that beer looks like urine. But today they all gotta dye it so it looks like gonorrhea.
What the F___?!

I used to hate all things rap and hip-hop. Until I actually started listening to it. For one thing, there's a huge amount of variety...not all hip-hop is Tupac and Eminem. "Jump Around" and such is not even close to what I'm talking about. Some of it is great for driving, some is great for relaxing and zoning out, some is great in the b.g. while chilling with friends, and some is great (or was) great for smoking certain hebal remedies and destressing (which I haven't done for years but was nice at the time).
In fact, given how much I used to hate all rap/hh and how much I like certain groups now has taught me about not judging until thouroughly investigated.
Now I don't hate any form of music...just 99% of the bands. And 99.5% of the songs.
mmmmmmm gonorrhea...
Never mind the bollacks

What the hell was that subject title all about ^?
Put on something you can get hurt dancing to, and I'm happy.
And not just because I'm that bad of a dancer! Even though I am...
Never really got into the ska thing, but punk rock all the way.

Going to see Me First and the Gimme Gimmes tomorrow. They're a cover band. Really great. Do all kinds of songs, but punk rock. Good times.

umm, not the original one, but they've covered it, as well as pretty much any other song you've ever heard.
They even did one in Hebrew on their album "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes ruin Johnny's Bar Mitzvah!"
That one was live. Good times.
