Food and drink
For my inaugural posting I have chosen to give you a glimpse of two of the things that are nearest and dearest to my heart - eating and drinking. I am in the fortunate position of being able to spend part of each year in two different countries: in one, Spain, I have access to a massive selection of delicious food and excellent, reasonably priced wines, and in the other, Canada, where the cuisine is less than memorable, I can make my own beer, a beverage that I consider, in it's many forms and flavours, to be the nectar of the Gods 
I was introduced to beer when I was seventeen years old and found myself in the company of three avid beer drinkers, all Englishmen, on a ship bound for Australia. Spending several years in Aussie served to hone my palate and appetite for beer and I have drunk it in, not from but in, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, the Fiji Islands, New Caledonia, India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Holland, Germany, Greece and Spain. Canada is the only country in which I have had the time, space and facilities in which to create my own beers and ales and it is for this reason that I have a close and endearing attachment to the country. I have a few hundred friends there as well but, beer, emperor supreme of liquids, is the foremost reason for my fidelity and annual pilgrimage. Of Spanish food and wines I could go on and on and on............but I'll spare you that, for now, anyway:-)
'tis the witching hour and lunch is being served (olives, cheese, sardines, chorizo, salchichon, jamon serrano, almejas, fresh bread and red wine):-P so I must go, but I'll be back, with more on the loves of my life. Stay tuned.......
