Why philosophy?
ska Posted Jul 15, 2003
Well, one night I watched some popular American sitcoms and had a breakdown, losing my faith in humanity. Rather than become a murderous hermit that paces around television studios, I decided to ponder the meaning of poor programming. My quest is still unfinished (although I'm starting to realize that maybe the hermit thing isn't such a bad idea).
Seriously though, I think my interest in philosophy came from a desire to have super-human, or at least above-average, intellect. Probably to impress girls or fulfill fantasies of outdebating my teachers and earning exemption from school... I was younger, after all. All I can know for sure is that I'm damn addicted to it now and my last chance to back out was probably a few books ago.
