it differs for me how many books etc i use... I was quite worried today as i thought my books were overdue but turns out they aren't but i put an extension on the 7day books. I'm having a spot of trouble with a womens studies essay as i cant find anything on the female gaze for some like it hot and g.i. jane!
I think I'll leave the topic of religion alone now ... how are you on politics? I know nothing

Consider yourself lucky, try finding a book on the distribution of beadlet anemones on the littoral zone of rocky shores...
Erm, politics. What about it? What erra? Erm, hmm. I can blab for a long time on Henrician politics... As for current politics, well, what bit? The state opening of parliament, who people are, how it works? (or doesn't as the case may be)

Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Posted Nov 28, 2003
I don't know anything about politics at all ... none of the things you mentioned I have knowledge about
to hear that you also find it difficult to research topics for your degree ... how do you get round the problem?

Really? I make sure I watch the news every morning while eating my porridge, it's about the only TV I watch in a day.
Well, then you search the library catalog for journals.

although I'm doing a news module I've watched hardly any news at all over the last year and more. My lecturer said we all ought to watch at least one bulletin per channel over the course. I'm dreading the exam I must face on it in Jan!
I find the internet is very good at helping me with my research as a matter of fact i intend to do some research on it after my daily postings on h2g2
as always good luck with work etc and hope you are having fun at uni love opti

Ever since last year when my geology lecturer said something along lines of 'and this is demonstrated by the earthquake in Italy this Tuesday' and I didn't have a clue that there had been one, I've made an effort to watch or listen to the news.
Today the headlines were a raid in Iraq, the new law on mobile phone usage in cars and world AIDs day.
the exams are always annoying, but I've gone through so many of them I'm fed up with it all and don't get worked up about it. I doubt they're going to be all that dreadfull.
Well, I'm working at the moment myself; just stopping by hootoo for a quick break. Hope all's going well.

I like the news don't get me wrong its just that i tend to spend most of my time wrapped up in essays
Happy Christmas
I heard that the mobile phone thing came in to use at midnight... funny hour hey? I bet the police are catching loads of people out recently who aren't news watchers
This week I get back my results for 2 essays if not 3! exams i always worry about as in the past i've not been successful and they've led to my downfall in not getting to a higher uni
just done my research on womens studies g.i. Jane and Some like it Hot have been asked to go clubbing this evening but i'm not sure a pulling place is for me

Argh, tis only the 1st December, maybe in another 24 days...
Well, if they made it so that the law is implemented in 1st December, then midnight seems a logical time to start. I'm sure they'll be quite a lot of people caught out on this one.
I failed one exam at A level (statistics ), but I didn't need maths to get into uni an it was just an extra subject. Once I got my offer from NU of BCC I just stopped trying as far as maths was concerned; I didn't understand it and didn't need to pass it. My grades last year were about a 2:1, but this year I've no idea how well I'll do. Just have to see I suppose.
I've just done some more stats . I'll do a bit more of the writing I suppose. I've only been clubbing once this term, generally I get bored after about half an hour. That last time though was brilliant, because I was with 44 friends. We took up half of that dance floor.

44 friends! thats a lot how do you manage to keep up with them all?
I think I've worked out what my bf has got me today for our second month together ... a partridge in a pear tree
I never was good at maths either, I used to break up crying as people said that I could do it and I believed I couldn't ... I thought people that were into science were also mathematical minded, I guess I was wrong.

They're all ramblers.
I hope it's an easy maitainance one
I'm a life scientist. Numbers are far too theoretical.

lol at easy maintenance keeping a partridge in a pear tree over christmas it may just have too many sherry's and fall out
Ah ramblers I take it you must know some more than others then
The only number I bet that we both can just about manage is 42 actually Natai worked out my 42ism

Laura Posted Dec 1, 2003
Well, it might be a plastic one.
There are 400 members of the rambling society. I only know about 100 of them, as many just go on the one walk. About 100 is still a huge number though.
I do know a few people who aren't ramblers..
Good ole' 42. It took me ages to work out mine, mainly because I wasn't really trying.

true... but it was a teddy and red and white carnations he's the best shame I'm thinking about leaving uni life behind and setting my mind towards travel and tourism now
its nice to know so many people
personally i prefer the numbers 41 and 21 more as they mean more to me ... forget what 42 means

Laura Posted Dec 2, 2003
You're thinking of pulling out? There's quite a difference between media and tourism.
42 is the answer to life the universe and everything of course. 42 minutes is also the replication time of e. colli..

I got well depressed yesterday over that grade as it probably shows on h2g2 thing is if i continue getting grades like that then i ought not to be here right?
maybe I really ought to like the number 42 better

Laura Posted Dec 3, 2003
Even with grades like that you'll still end up with a degree. The third semester is meant to be the hardest according to my tutors as the work load and demand for quality increases, so there's every chance you'll do better in semester 4.
It isn't all that aspiring a number.

Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Posted Dec 4, 2003
I hope I get a degree but I want a great one... with grades like that one I don't think I will do well at all
I can't quite see why you think semester 4 will be better than semester 3
Thanks for talking to me about this
wowzer
Laura Posted Dec 4, 2003
It's true you'd get a third, but not only could you do much better in other exams, but a lot of employers just want to know you've got a degree anyway. What do you want to do?
Well, I don't know about you, but for me last year didn't count towards the degree at all. This semester is the first time anything counts and at the same time the work load's higher and the work harder. It takes a while to get used to the presure and be able to manage it.
Not at all.

I think I am definitely in the same boat as you. Last year didn't count and I'm really feeling the pressure this year with exams so far! ah well it could have been worse i could have failed ... I hope this research proposal goes well for me ... problem is I'm trying to create a question which is very narrow and its proving problematic! its on the notion of the ideal partner (love) in films

Hmm, I can't really help you with that, I know practically noting about media. Something about stereotypes?
