I think Gnomon's onto something, here. Maybe he can find us a way to get a user-friendly palette worked out.

Perhap,s but they were the reason i didn't use the FP much was the colour scheme, and i also wouldn't paint my room the colours
Make of that what you will
Nevertheless, the content is brilliant and the archive stuff this week has cheered me up immensely from my cauldron on illness

I look at the FP every day and to be honest, I don't really notice the border colours that much. (Brunel) I tend to be somewhat more engrossed in the content and clicking away on the various links etc. I tend to notice the occasional blips, as today has shown, but overall, the new look FP gets a thumbs up from me.
I raised an issue a while back about the size of pics/blobs on EG entries but that was more to do with mobile/iphone viewing issues.

For the record, BMT (since we're collecting data), what's your vision like? 20/20?

Up untill I had cataracts a couple of years ago I had 20/20 vision. Since the cataract operations included having artificial lens inserted in each eye I now need reading glass's. The artificial lens tend to be set for distance rather than near vision hence need for reading glass's. No issues with colours or any sort of colour blindness.

Perhaps I should add, I can read fonts as small as 6 with said reading glass's at a distance of approx. 18" away.

Hai
Vision wise I have some, not much mind, but some.
I mostly have contrast issues, but I know the banner at the top of the FP says Welcome to H2G2 so even though the lilac and white isn't quite contrasting enough. I know what it says so it doesn't matter.
as for small print, Don't get me started! font 12 is small print as far as I'm concerned, and anything smaller requires help from friends for reading.

I prefer the new layout of the FP...just not the colour scheme for this week.
I do however like the rotating colour scheme

It was one of mine - pale peach It accentuated the highlights of Rosie's drawing of the Collyer junk-room.
And as to the suggestion that I'm trying to drive people out of Brunel - I can only retort that nothing can be further from the truth.
But I've made a note - just in case conventional methods fail.

Good, people, keep bringing in the feedback. Ask some more Researchers to report in, Bel won't mind.
6 point type - ye gods and little . I'm with mini - 12 is my bottom limit. I have those post-cataract implants, too - but 12 pt is the best I can manage, with glasses, at 18 inches.
I've got this browner set to 'largest', and I don't edit in the parser.

Those pastel colours totally lack contrast. I need a large font and a good contrast for reading on a screen. I can have my settings in a way that the font is large enough for me to read on h2g2, but without a good contrast it is still difficult.

I'm ok, but a mid blue or dark red are what i like - though the green with white is one of the easiest

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Dec 19, 2011
I haven't had a chance to design a test page. My colour chart is at A877818 but it puts black text against the lighter colours. You really want something like that but with white text on all the colours. I'll try and do one tomorrow.

OK, it's fixed now. I suspect that any colour in that table is acceptable as long as there is sufficient contrast between the white writing and the colour.
