I'm afraid the singing to the tree is another tradition that's dying out. People now play a CD with Christmas songs - if at all.

We don't sing to the tree, but the family gathering (which actually takes the weekend before Christmas for us) still has plenty of carols sung
We're both musical families, as are most of the other halfs that we know bring, so the 14 of us start off good, but vast amounts are drunk during the three hour meal, which is a bad start for singing, it worsens over the next 7

My mum sang a lot with us, I sang a lot with my children and they both were members of the school choir for many years.

Just counting secondary school my siblings and I have 22 years in choir. My parents another 14 odd. My brother does some show choir stuff. The other side does various things and has done other stuff
Its only when one of my uncles families arrive we feel bad
My 9 year old cousin has two grade 8s, my aunt does professional music work, and my uncle is a west end conductor
My 4 year cousin, as yet, has not grades...it will not take long

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Dec 9, 2011
I wonder could we ask for a smiley of a Christmas tree that was actually vertical, rather than looking as if it is being pulled along the street by some small boys looking for extra cash.

No, merely that he bought a spaceship off one to deal with the increased workload
And I'm disappointed people beat me to the jokes - I was going to make one and point out that my family definetely won't sing to a sideways christmas tree...actually, knowing my family, they probably would
