When I tried to sign into my account earlier, I was told I had entered the wrong password three times and had to answer my secret question.
Fortunately, I remembered the answer to that one. I was then asked to put in another password - which I didn't. I put the one I've had for ages, because if I changed it, I'd *really* risk forgetting it.
Now it happens occasionally that I I type one digit/letter wrong, but I've always managed to enter the correct password on the second attempt - simply by actually looking at the keys I hit (it's an automated process, so I don't usually really pay attention).
So how can it be that I'm told I entered it wrong three!! times when I didn't?

I preferred it the other way
I sometimes get the same thing, I then usually find I've selected my really old account that I no longer remember the password for or, indeed, the email address I activated it from.

I would understand it if I actually had typed the password wrong three times - but on first attempt? I mean, that looks as if somebody has tried to 'hack' my account.

It's either that, or the sign-on system has problems. Neither is discountable. If it happens again, I suggest you report it.

I know it's happened to others, too. I recently aced somebody who had created a new account in despair. I'd still like to know how and why this can happen.

Yes, they should be able to do so, but still.

You didn't have caps lock on did you without realising it did you?
No.
Well aren't you just stoopid!
Sheeesh, you'd have thought that someone who can speak two languages rather brilliantly would know how to put her password in

I'm glad you can understand it because I can't!
*listens to the stairs to see if she can hear mumsie running down the stairs as fast as a little legs can carry her* (and trust me, she has very little legs)

Yeah. She's upstairs on the computer and I'm downstairs on the laptop. I think her legs are refusing to work because she hasn't come downstairs to shout at me yet
This means I can be extra naughty!!!
