For some odd reason Maria has been used as male and female name alike. Just think of Rainer Maria Rilke.

I do not think the Dutch catholics will like your remark

...and the catholic public broadcaster might be loosing the right to broadcast
but thanks for another generalisation of the Dutch...

Nobody's interested in van der Rohe's faith, pheloxi. It was you who brought it up. Mala only made a joke because I thought he was Dutch, and then I had to learn that he was German and American, but still not Dutch. That's all. She didn't imply anything.

sorry Bell, but I do not always see the joke. I do not know if you noticed by now that I have on a regular basis. it might be short coming of mine, but it is part of me.

As far as I know, LMvdR's only well-known "religious" statement was "God is in the detail" - whether that God was Allah or Manitu or Zeus, he never specified.

So,
Maria = Ludwig
Marion = John Wayne
Shirley = Big Daddy Crabtree (wrestler)
No wonder Johnny Cash sang about a Boy Named Sue!
