Funny thing is: when I went to the eye test for my driving licence, the optician failed to note that I can't see without my glasses, so it's not a condition written on my licence, so theoretically, I wouldn't even break the law if driving without my glasses.

It gives J a headache if he has to wear his old glasses. I've had to pick him up from school before because he's broken them - he can see to do close work so could get around it, but he feels so vulnerable at school anyway that I wouldn't make him walk around not being able to see what's coming at him.
I've gone to school, got the lovely opticians to fix his specs, then taken him back again. Luckily he's not broken any so bad they can't be fixed yet, but I do feel for you. Can't be nice not being able to see properly.

I guess I'm lucky that my current lenses aren't too out of date, so they should do fine until I've found a solution to the problem.
As long as I can read what's goig on on hootoo...

Quick update:
I went to the optician now and asked if the specs from the broken frame could be changed to fit in the frame I'm currently wearing. As I had anticipated, the shapes of both frames are too different, so that's not an option, but...
...the optician offered me a frame which is similar (even slightly smaller, which is always good as it reduces the weight) to the broken frame. Very nice colour, too, and only € 39.00. On asking how much I'd have to pay for fitting the lenses, she said that was included in the price.
So, if I subtract the € 9.00 I'd have had to pay for fixing the broken pair, that leaves me with an additional € 30.00 - for a new frame.
And I'm sure they'll call either tomorrow or on Wednesday, they never take long with these things.

Not much, probably the last before I got the new ones. I can still see things clearly if they aren't too far away.

I'll have new lenses fitted in the frame I'm currently wearing - I'll ask about the price when I go to fetch the new frame.

That's good. Will you have another eye test?

I don't think it's necessary, fortunately, my eyesight doesn't deteriorate as quickly as it used to do.

Without my glasses, I can just about make out the first three lines - and even the B is blurry.
