I`ve made the experience that noises can come from the aerator in the pc.
Perhaps a cable lies on it or dust has accumulated.

Well, latest news:
apparently, the new hard drive didn't boot in my PC, so the husband formatted it or whatever. Looks as if it works now, but he can't get an internet connection and has no idea why. Looks as if he'll have to find out what settings he has on his PC and then try to do that on my PC.
