Ah, traditionally a very successful operation so she should be better than new when she gets out.smiley - ok

I'm sure she'll be glad she did it when she gets back on her feet, I believe the relief from pain is intense.smiley - bubbly

Pass on my regards.smiley - rose

she will be...my mom is do person. her other hip needs to be replaced too. the car that scooped her 3 years ago made worse. one of her knees muscles is damaged so others need take over the strength. she will be recuperating for a while. the first hip will be toughest.

I know quite a few recipients of hips and knees, and they all say they never looked back - the quality of their life improved so much. I think the new hips now have a lifespan of 15-20 years, which is very good.

Your mum is likely to be like the bionic woman this time next year.smiley - biggrin

Just tell her to take it slowly - and enjoy her walks, they're the most important thing when recovering.smiley - ok

Wow! I go off for a few days to toil and sweat for a paycheck; come crawling and clawing my way back through the ice and wind, only to find a mysterious message dated 2/15 in my SPAM folder from H2G2. Upon opening it, I discover that smiley - somersault I've become a footnote in a guide entry! smiley - biggrin
No longer am I disgraced with an entryless existence. (Thanks for the credit, B'El.smiley - hug )
Now I understand why I was overcome with an urge on the night of the 15th to dye my hair in my motel room and get auburn spots on the motel towels.(Not to worry -- it comes out after a wash or two in hot water.) smiley - winkeye

(We won't mention the 360 posts in that other thread. Yikes, indeed!)
