Do you think P.U.D.D.I.N.G. <./>A749784</.> is the place for me ?
In his mail with wishes for the new year a friend pointed out that all I said during the last couple of weeks was only doom and gloom , and thinking back, I guess he has a point I knew he didn't like my 'down' mails, so hardly sent him mails anymore because I couldn't pretend to be cheerful, but he said he followed my conversations here, and they all expressed depression and stress I don't suffer from depressions, so I don't even have an excuse for having been so
I want to thank you that you all did bear with me, and cheered me up every time , and I'll try to be more cheerful in the future
Bel

I certainly hadn't noticed it, B'Elana, and even if it was true you are entitled. Maybe pudding is for me actually, cos I often post in an artificially happy way or in an ironically happy way. I DO suffer from depression as well as occassional bouts of mania
To be honest the 'friend' sounds like a bit of a shallow twerp....As far as I'm concerned you have absolutely NOTHING to apologise for!

hi b'el. i think as I understood it the point of P>U>D>D>I>N>G wasn't that it was for grumpy people just those who didn't like to be told 'cheer up it might never happen'
If stuff is getting you down what better place to get it out of your system than here. If people aren't sure how to repond they don't have to do they. If you can cheer someone up have a go, if not then just be grumpy with them!

What a relief that I don't come across as a grumpy old cow - at least not to everybody. I sometimes think : oh drat, you've again complained about something, and there are so many people who're really worse off than me

Oh B'El! If you need to be a portion of p.u.d.d.i.n.g. - then so do the rest of us. I've never come across anyone less likely than you. IGNORE the friend (moron) who suggested it.
Happy New Year and keep smiling.

I don't think I've ever seen you complain about anything on here. Nope, you definitely don't seem like a grumpy or depressed person to me.

It's a really good friend, and he only expressed his worries abbout my depressive mood and wished for the best for me .
Footie, maybe you don't lurk enough, or on the wrong threads ?
I know, there are quite a few where I did complain, wishing xmas and NYE were already over - but hey, they now are

If you do have troubles, or feel down or blue, then I think you should feel perfectly entitled and comfortable to offload it onto friends shoulders for as long as it lasts and until it passes. That's what it's all about isn't it?
Being told to 'cheer up' or 'it could be worse' when you're feeling blue is just as bad as being told 'life goes on' and 'times a great healer' when you've just lost someone dear.
I'm yet to discover any of life's troubling times being solved or soothed by empty, thoughtless platitudes.
Maybe this person would do better, even if not able to offer any solution to whatever may trouble you at any given time just to either listen and empathise and try to be supportive, or shut the f**K up!
Personally, I think you're more like a portion of jam roly poly with hot custard.
I'm definitely a candidate for the P.U.D.D.I.N.G club!

Whatever that is - it does sound nice - though sweet *toothache*
And to do my friend justice, he's always tried to be supportive, but I guess there is a point, when you just can't take any of this anymore, feeling helpless that despite all your efforts your friend is still not feeling better, and knowing that you're just too far away to actually DO anything.

I have no idea what PUDDING is - but I do know it's very difficult to put on a cheerful head when you're feeling sad inside.
You have been a good friend to me, B'Elana, and good friends support each other through the bad times.

Annie - I hope I can give you what little support I can offer over the distance. It's thinking about you and your current situation that makes me see things in perspective again.
Key: Complain about this post
