Hello, Mort! I just wanted to thank you for the lovely message! I know my space needs some work, it's kind of just a matter of finding the time since I am not net ready at home and I do most of my internet stuff either at work or here in the *irritating* net cafe.
In response to your question, at the Aquarium I research whatever is needed. I'm assisting a man named Gil, who is writing a book about Springer, an orphaned Orca whale who was rehabilitated and reunited with her pod through a whole bunch of Aquariums working together. Gil is a former Orca trainer himself, but he went blind from a hereditary condition (I think) a while back. For his book, he conducts all his interviews on tape and then I transcribe them. Also, one of the interview subjects mentioned being inspired by the Rangers from Lord of the Rings, so Gil's having me research that for him. I don't mind a bit.
By the way, what does "smoke me a kipper" mean? I'm not too current on Scottish slang.

Your work sounds fantastic. Certainly not run of the mill anyway. It sounds interesting but i expect it has some dull days just like evry other job, but even the boring days have got to be better than boring days in other jobs.

One of my cats is sitting right by my ear and purring very loudly!!

Is a line from Red Dwarf a UK sci-fi comedy! I couldn't think what to put on my space when i first registered so i put that on and even though my space has been updated alot, that has stuck!

It just occurred to me that Mort probably isn't your real name, and I hadn't even thought about it, because Misty doesn't sound like a real name, but it is! It's what's on my birth certificate and everything!

Unfortunately, the Aquarium isn't my real job, it's just a volunteer thing that I'm trying to work into a real job. My odds are pretty good, because the hire like 25%of their staff from the volunteer program. My real job is at the comic store, which is interesting in entirely different ways - more of a socialogical science experiment than a bettering of the planet kind of thing. But you're a vet, right? That's definitely a bettering of the planet kind of thing!

I'd completely forgotten about the smoked kipper thing being from Red Dwarf! I just assumed it was more UK slang I didn't know. My writing partner is British and I'm constantly having to get him to translate (and vice versa!) "Alex, what does "grab your coat, you've pulled" mean?"
