Nitina the Pig (see my new personal space!)

Hi

I have been assigned to sub-edit your entry on stage props but need to ask you a few things.

As you have written your entry in plain text, I need to know the following:

1. Right after the introduction, you mention talking about 4 points. Do you want those as headers in your text? how do you want them displayed?

2.the part when you mention all the tips, do you want the titles in bold and as part of a list or as headers?

3.and lastly, at the end of the page, you wrote additinal information under [FLAME RETARDANT SOLUTION FOR CLOTH PROPS: where does this fit in the test? is it a footnote? and if it is, which word is it referring to?

hope to hear from you soon

Nitina

Hello again, Nitina!

The copy that you originally grabbed was indeed text only.

Now that I have a little (dangerous amount) of experience with GML, I have changed the entry to what I presumed it would probably look like. Please refer to it for my preferences, always leaving the final say to you of course.

I was warned that any graphics used would not likely be retained, which is fine. I'd have offered to design my own if I felt I could learn the process quickly enough.

The Flame-Retardant formula is a reference to the section: 'Remember the People:' where safety is discussed. I mention that one such formula appears at the bottom of the article; and so it does.

Thank you for taking the time to work on what I must presume is an occasionally thankless task. I certainly appreciate anything that you can do for it.

It looks Beee-yooo-tiful!

Thanks, Nitina. Please, let me know if I fell into any errors that I might otherwise repeat (ie. spelling, grammar, not British enough verbiage, etc)

As regards the image, I'm open to suggestions. One researcher warned me that graphics would be ignored, and another said that a graphic would be created to fit the entry. In a pinch, I could supply a graphic if that is desired.

Let me know what choices I have, or if I do, indeed, have any say at all. Overall, I would trust your judgement.

Thanks Ford Towel smiley - ok

One thing I forgot to mention is that, after the introduction, your entry has to have a header. It has to be just after this sentence 'There are four very important points to remember when making props (apart from the fact that the director always has the last say): All entries have to have it, you see so let me know what you want as a title there.

Hmmm, you asked me about the English. Well I must say that your English is very good and I only found some really minor mistakes. It was mainly things such as guideMl tags that were missing and some style tips that you need to use for h2g2 entries such as:

When you want to put something in quotes, you use single quotes (') rather than double (").

You capitalise every major word in Headers, Subheaders and titles

when you want to write something in degrees celcius, you don't actually write out the words. you use this tag : 90°C

You italicise names of plays. It is one of the rules in the 'English usage in the Edited Guide' where you can make reference to it.

YOu when you want to add a footnote to a word, the tag to use is this: and . You can read about this in the 'using approved guideMl guide'

I guess that is all...

And about the picture, it has to be commissioned by the editors to the community artists. It's the editors who are only allowed to choose if there will be pics and what pics. Sorry

Let me know about the header

Thank you, again, Nitina

I suppose that the word 'Requirements:' would do as good as any for the header. I threw it into my copy to see it and it was okay.

Regarding the footnote. Because I wanted it to be part of the article, is it possible to leave it as a blockquote instead? If not, it works all right the way you have coded it.

Regarding the image. Is there anything I need to do? Or, will they automatically assign it to someone?

I have added the header 'Requirements' and also took out the footnote and put a blockquote instead. Looks much bettersmiley - smiley

About the image, sorry if I didn't make myself clear but you are not allowed to have pics in your entry unless your entry gets chosen as the 'Editor's pick of the day' and the community artist draws a pic for it.

Anyway, entry is all done now. You can have a look at it

Thanks! I did my best to make sure it looks nice smiley - biggrin

I have now submitted it to the Editors. It will be on the front page sometime next month and, who knows, it might get chosen as the Editor's pick for the day and have a pic drawn for yousmiley - smiley

Have fun in the meantime and I shall see you around...

Nitina
