wet and wild (in wales)

Well this holiday in Wales seems to be going from bad to worse. Ended up in a little town called Aberearon, its a wee town on the west of Wales stuck inbetween Cardigan and Aberystwyth, and as I arrived there with my Rucksack and my bag of food, last night it was rolls, turkey slices, potato salad, plus a big bag of doritos, and some wine gums, all washed down with a couple of roll ups and some lemonade. I stuck my tent up in some Holiday park, and snuggled in for the night. Then the rain fell. And it fell harder than any night before. Now this was the first real test of my tent being waterproof, and it failed miserably. I was mopping up with bits of newspapers, towels, going slightly mad, then I just gave up, and forced myself to go to sleep and I would survey the damage in the morning. Well let me tell you ladies and gentlefrogs, I was floating, the sleeping bag soaked, my breakfast destroyed(yup you guessed it, turkey and potato salad rolls). I got up squelching my way tot he toilets, trying to dry everything out. Then I tried hitchhiking to where I am now, and ended up waiting 3 hours for a lift. But now Im here, ive just checked my mail (got none) and just checked my bank account(im not even gonna go there). So mabey its time to go back home. Or Spain.

ARRRRRGGH part 2

right now im hurting my eyes, looking at this bloody computer screen and wondering that in mabey ten years time, a whole generation of backpackers are going to be struck by backpackeritis. Curved stooped backs, and a constant subliminal hitching of the backpack straps. Christ knows im doing it already, (and no i dont wear bras) Ive kind of hitched my way round the world, been a stowaway, and have been arrested in 6 countries, and they were all for drunken disorerlies.(was drunk, needed more drink, couldnt get any, was quite sad.got arrested) And here i am only 26 and im on holiday in Wales. (now I dont have anything against the Welsh) I think that Ive decided to travel in the UK, because one, ive never done it before and two, this SARS thing, granted, Ive had my fair share of tropical diseases, but i dont want to cough to death. Im amazed by the way people are in the UK and how they treat backpackers. Almost like lepers really. And the YHA (youth hostel association) are the biggest money grabbing buggers Ive ever encountered in my life. So no wonder only Australians come to visit this country. If we had more backpacker freindlier places, more people would want to explore.
Right thats me ranted for today. Im off to get drunk.

AAAARRRGGGHHHH

Well people I wrote a couple of journal entries down yesterday, rather interesting they were too, but when I tried to access them, nothing happened. So heres a brand new journal, and Im buggered if Ive got anything to say at the moment.
Heres a poem

I never saw a purple cow, I never hope to see one
But I can tell you anyhow, I'd rather see than be one

Ah yes ,I wrote the purple cow, I'm sorry now I wrote it
But I can tell you anyhow, I'll kill you if you quote it

Hopefully the cult of the purple cow starts here.
cheers
john
