I'm waiting to see what the radio series based on 'And Another Thing…' will be like – I was a bit disappointed by the book.

I didn't know it was being dramatised. Do you have a link for that?

It was announced a month or so ago that it was going into production, not heard anything since:

I know I read that book, but I can't remember how it went. I vaguely remember considering it... OK at best. It didn't anger me.

I had read some of whatsizname's kids books before. He's the one who wrote Artemis Fowl, right?

Yup. That's him. I downloaded an Artemis Fowl book, but didn't get past the free sample. The Hitchhiker's book didn't grab me either.

Shame, he seems a nice enough guy. Perhaps being a nice guy means you're not a brilliant author.

Anyway - I'm one of the remote ones who still hasn't heard the radio series. So I'll be logging on to that one.

I always wondered why they didn't get John Lloyd to write more – I know it is controversial, but many of my favourite bits of the radio series were written by John Lloyd rather than Douglas Adams.

Once a high quality version was available on CD here in The States, I snatched up a copy. Previously, the only version I could find was a poorly compressed MP3 version. I now have the full series, not including And Another Thing, on Audio CD. I'm glad I got it when I did. It's now going for nearly $200 on Amazon. One seller has priced it at $908! smiley - huh

Isn't the CD version different from the radio one?

Post 93

Baron Grim

Probably. Have any two versions been the same yet?

But the CD version is as close as I can get. For Fits one and two, I believe it's the same as the original vinyl recording. I believe there were some minor differences between the original airing and the recordings.

I haven't heard the radio series either.
I tried a few years ago, but it was really rather difficult for a non native speaker... smiley - sadface
I think I'll work on my listening skills before I try again.

Neil Gaiman's written a one-off sequel to the Neverwhere series, How the Marquis Got His Coat Back. Dramatised by the Dirk Maggs. It's on iPlayer for a few weeks from Friday 4th November.

Ooh - I was very fond of 'Neverwhere', the television series was my first introduction to Peter Capaldi.

I recently watched _Local Hero_ for the first time in ages and was pleasantly surprised to see Capaldi played the rather innocent young Scotsman assigned by the oil company to assist the main character (Peter Reigart) on his trip to purchase the remote Scottish village.

Neil Gaiman's 'Stardust' is being broadcast for the first time this weekend, in two 60-minute episodes:

And if you haven't heard it already, Pratchett's 'Small Gods' is available (four episodes of 30 minutes) - not to be missed:

A 5-part radio dramatization of Stephen Baxter's 'Voyage' is on BBC iPlayer next week:

Directed by Dirk Maggs, so it should be good.
