Well... going by the 520, which shipped with 512K RAM (although i think we got a whole 1 MB!!!), ATARI numbes have nothing to do with the computer i think smiley - tongueout

I recently discoverd my computing department at school have two TT's in working order with 3 or 4 hard drives! They are big.

Do you know anywhere that still sells atari hardware? im wanting to get a hard drive myself

It was the ST1040 that had the 1 meg of RAM - thats what my one started life as, before the soldering iron got to work!smiley - winkeye

As for buying Atari hardware? The only place I've seen any in years has been among the miscella..(B*gg*r!) mixed goodies at computer fairs.

Mister Matty

I'm an Amiga owner of more than ten years, so best not to mention the Atari ST to me smiley - tongueout

Amiga? BAH! heresy! Begone ye! Well, actually, stay if you want, i was almost about to buy one.

So, did you ever write anything for your ATARI, or did you just play games like everyone else?

Write anything? - Yes!!!

Finish writing anything? - Well actually now you mention it...er...umsmiley - blush

Anyway it was Dungeon Master that sold me my Atari! Wonderful game, many, MANY happy hours spent (and MANY lives) down there...AH the fond memories.

Never had it on the ATARi smiley - sadface

i had a wonderful RPG/combat dungeon creator for my STe. Basically you had a grid of anyhting up to 1000 squares. YOu then sat down, got rid of walls, put in doors, added objects and wrote text. And then.... you played it.

Really really quite fun.

Mister Matty

I only recently got to play Dungeon Master at last. I played Eye of the Beholder (a Dungeon Master clone) on the Amiga religiously.

If you like those Dungeon-type games, then I would strongly recommend "Angband", a highly-detailed "Above-view" dungeon game that is available as freeware.

Information on Angband and downloads are available here:

http://www.thangorodrim.net/

have fun smiley - ok

Zagreb
thanks for the tip, but the site I mentioned includes a download of Dungeon Master for playing on the PC and I have the funny feeling that any spare computer time away from here might be taken up with reliving some of my (mis-spent?) youthsmiley - biggrin

I have DM for the PC but the sound doesn't appear to work smiley - erm

And I don't understand how all the different character classes and spells and stuff are supposed to work. I do like killing the baddies and then eating them for tea, though. Something that was sadly missing from Eye of the Beholder, but then Kobolds and Zombies probably aren't too nutritious. Or tasty. smiley - yuk

Wildman - I'm not really mad, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!

The site I mentioned includes downloads of all the relevant manuals (in PDF format). There's details on spells, experience points - everything!
There's even a download of DM for the Amigasmiley - cheerssmiley - tongueout
And what's the point of killing all these baddies if you can't eat a few to get your strength back? Shoddy workmanship I call that!smiley - monster

I have Amiga DM, and thanks for the manual help smiley - ok

In Eye... you had to keep collecting Iron Rations to keep your party with full tummies. Must have been quite a tedious diet.

Sorry about that, I should have clarified it, if you go to the site what you are looking for is 'Chaos Strikes back for Windows and Linux' once you've unpacked it there's a batch file called 'PlayDM-Atari', double click that and Robert's your parents brother! smiley - biggrin

Good luck and have fun! smiley - cheers
