This is the Message Centre for Milos

Thank you.

I can righteously accuse myself of churlishness for neglecting the social requisites, both in RL and here. I would like to thank you though, for providing me a great deal of moral support in re my recent Tri-tip project.

I'm a dilettante dabbler, I say this without any real shame, but it's always hard to forge a beginning, especially in foreign (...you know what I mean...) milieux; and your encouraging voice made all the difference between following through with pride, and just walking away.

While I'm here thanking you, Miloso, please allow me to shamelessly plug my current project:

A4503467 , H L Mencken - the Sage of Baltimore

It's WIP at this point, about halfway there.

I'm hoping it will penetrate through the fabled British reserve...
Should I emulate my subject (and incidentally, one of my literary heros) and come across all forthright and contentious? Hmmm. To do that successfully would require more time than I could afford, and more wit than I could muster. Maybe in a small sense....

Thank you.

You're certainly welcome! I'm glad you've had a positive experience and that you'll be sticking around smiley - ok

I apologise for not seeing your message right away; I spent most of last week wearing a few of my other h2g2 hats, parading around as one of my alter-egos working on <./>ThePost</.> and the <./>Underguide</.>.

I had a peek at your new project. I really enjoy your writing style - we have such a wonderfully diverse language and so few use it to its potential. smiley - smiley

My only comment at this point would be about the quotes segment at the end. There seem to be quite a few quotes there. I know sometimes it seems hard to choose, but for an entry I would keep it to six or seven at the most. You might also try (as you fill out more of the entry) dropping them in amongst the rest of the text, rather than as a list at the end.

I look forward to seeing the rest of it when it's finished smiley - ok. Sometimes I think I was born just a bit too late, I think I would have enjoyed experiencing some of our more formative years.

Thank you.

I agree about the quotes...but there's so much good material!.. I can work some into the text, and save a few pearls.

I need long uninterrupted sessions to do this kind of work, so I save it for weekends. (Picture a troglodyte scribe with a stick and many mud tablets...)

Alter-egos? I like the idea, but might get myself into trouble with that smiley - devil

Thank you.

And I have... not so much gotten into trouble as inadvertently blown my cover. Not such a big deal since I was never out to intentionally deceive anyone. Anymore I just come right out and tell people they're likely to come across me in other guises.

So for the record, I'm also broelan (U155058) and Little Mischief (U89093). Most of the things I'm involved in are with the broelan account, which is my primary. I hang on to the other for its prestigous 5-digit U-number, making me one of the 'oldies' around here - I'll have been here 6 years in about a month.

Then it's handy to have this account primarily for Peer Review, so I don't lose entries I'm working with in the midst of everything else I'm doing.
