Hi Clio,
Since I'm new to H2G2 I just thought I'd say 'hello' to all of the more interesting sounding folks around the community. Always wanted to visit Canada - esp. British Colombia as it looks very much like Scotland where I'm from but with much more true wilderness (I'm very much into the great outdoors).
Anyway I'm going to continue browsing but feel free to drop in on my personal page sometime for a chat.
All the best!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by! I don't know if you've been welcomed by any ACES yet but they are very helpful. Actually I've found (in the two weeks I've been on here) that almost everyone is really helpful and friendly. I am a good part Scottish and I've always wanted to visit there. It doesn't hurt that I the accent . Anyway, stop by whenever you like. There's always , or or even a awaiting my guests. The eyes beside a name mean that person is online.
Thanks for the welcome

Hi Clio,
An ACE did contact me and was a great help. Havn't learned any code yet, but I was learning HTML a while ago so I presume it's not going to be too difficult.
Wher are your family descended from in Scotland, I'm from the West Coast, Strathclyde if that means anything to you (south and west of Glasgow) but have stayed all over Scotland over the last few years. I know that there's a big Scottish descended population in various states in the US and do wish sometimes that my people were as proud to be Scottish as some americans are to be descended from Scots. I think, in fact, that America has actually more 'highland games' and pipe bands than Scotland has itself.
Nice talking - speak soon.
Still trying to tie down a subject for my first article - any suggestions of anything you'd like covered?
Thanks for the welcome

I'm really not sure where in Scotland, one of my aunts did the history but I haven't seen it. There is a rumour that there is a scottish "king" or some similar rank waaaay back in our family tree but I've never seen him in the record books. The rumour is he was dethroned and changed his name. I need to contact this aunt. Hmmm. As for a topic the only thing I can suggest is go through the guide and look for any topics that arent well covered. Barring that, you could check out the flea market, tha's where other researchers have abandoned articles and other people finish them. You should check out the "is everyone irish" thread on "askh2g2". Chat at ya later
