Hi, DQ,
Hope you are well. This is just a line to say how surprised I was to receive a Green from you. I have never fully utilised Care2, but shall endevour to do so. Maybe you could give me some guidance? Thank you very much. If I may, because of this, may I admit you to my friend's list?
Take care and speak soon...

Sure ... trying to figure out who you are... someone in Clan Thingite.. the blue guy who likes to iron..?

Yes, it is Mr Arthurian himself, of the wandering iron. Bang on.
I also posted the fact that I used Care2 on a regular basis as a 'Hi there' card service. I posted on one of your threads until it started to get flamed, and then unsubscribed.
Good luck with your packing . Hope the move goes well. Second most stressful event of our lives, I understand. I've generally moved on average every two years since I came to London 20 years ago, until the last 5 years, when I landed a property in a Housing Association and I am now settled. (I hope)
I wish you well. Are you moving far? or is it local? Whichever it is I hope the wehrs pull their weight.

Hi!
Taking a break from windowcleaning and unpacking boxes... Fortunately I´m just moving within the same block. Close enough to walk between, and realize that whatever you need it´s at the other place...
Moved all the furniture yesterday, so I guess I´ve moved by now. Bed and cats at the new place... Boxes everywhere, Mum´s sparebed in the kitchen, dragon princess´s room messier than ever...
Just my grand piano left at my old place. Can´t bring it with me, so it´s off to a music store tomorrow. and will lose their favourite spot of watch the surroundings from.
...and if you are very keen on ironing, I usually have a lot of clothes, table cloths and such in need of it... I just hate to iron
Gotta home to continue... just took a short break to check a few things at w*rk, I´m having vacation now just to be able to move and clean my old flat.
Take care!

Hi DQ,
Hope all is going well. Haven't had a chance to reply to your care.2 invite, as I was training today, and will be doing the same on Thursday and friday, so shall attempt a reply over the weekend if that is
Sorry to hear about your Grand Piano. Not an instrument I can play, although I did get reasonably competent on a two tier Hammond organ, until I went to college and it was sold . I know it has no relationship to a Grand (except it has white and black keys in similar positions but I was impressed. just stick to the fiddle now, although the family is growing. I now have five.... Always on the lookout for more 'cheap' (inexpensive) ones. A man can never have too many fiddles...
Thanks for the ironing invite. B'Elana invited me to fly over to do hers as well. Would love to. It is my Sunday afternoon relaxation, if I'm not strolling around Kew Gardens or Barn Elms (london wetlands) Nature reserve which are both local to me. Kew is five minutes walk!!!
Anyway, I mustn't stop your move. Hope all goes well and will drop by again soon.
Here's a for when you put your feet up.

Hi Fiddler!
http://medievalwriting.50megs.com/graphics/fiddler.jpg
Phew! All stuff at my new place - even found the light bulbs this morning
Tricky to find space for everything, though. My new flat is about half the size of my previous one. Only dragon princess (and the cats) living at home, but , who lives at a dorm at his Uni, has tons of whatever in my storage compartment in the basement. I can hardly walk in there... DJ has brought most of his belongings to his new place, but there are still some of his stuff here...
Miss my grand piano, never been a good at playing it. I´m an autodidact and I´ve not played that very much the last years. I´m sure fiddles take less space - but I do think there is a limit of how many fiddles one can own
Never made it to Kew Gardens during my London visits. I´ve thought about it, but there has never been time enough.
Gotta work...see ya!

Hi DQ.
Glad to see that you made the move in one piece, and not completely frazzled. I must admit I would hate to go through it again. Just moving my books and magazines would break the removal van's axle. let alone the Kitchen Appliances ( cooking, just don't do it very often.)
>>I do think there is a limit of how many fiddles one can own<<
Not too sure about that... Like women and shoes?
I do collect violin ephemera when I see it, but it doesn't arise very often. I have a Specially designed T-shirt and Sweatshirt logo, which was designed for me to go on my Festival Pouch. I also downloaded a cartoon picture of a Mid-West fiddler slouched on a chair, which I use when I attend the London Meets.
In fact, for the London Summer Meet next year, I am arranging a trip to Kew Gardens. At present it is myself and B'Elana, and anyone else who wishes to attend, then for those who wish, I shall knock up some food (as I only live 5 minutes away) for everyone, before going off to the evening meet. You are welcome to come along...
And thanks for the Picture..
Right, must get some work done.
Speak again soon...

.....
The guys that helped me move complained a lot about my books , and yet I put several boxes filled with books in the basement storage...
One of the tricky things in my new flat is the lack of space to put bookshelves. I´d had to put a few of them in the basement storage as well... Anyway now are most of my books in place. My very old "new" desk in the living room is crowded with just the PC ... don´t know where to put the printer yet... My large old desk is no more mine. the only place for it was in dragon princess´s room - and she didn´t mind having it . I found place for my CDs, but still I don´t know where to put my B&O. There are few free spots at the wall due to the bookshelves, so I can´t nail to the wall as I had planned...
...and I´m still waiting for the guy who´s supposed to paint the walls in the bathroom... the last bid is "probably next week"...
...first the bathroom walls need to be painted, then the plumber and the electrician can connect my washing machine to the pipes and power lines; then the landlord can do rest in the bathroom that need to be fixed...
...hope it will be done before Xmas...
...and the guy who´s supposed to arrived today to fix the lamps, some shelves and a few other things has still not arrived Mum just called and told me...He was supposed to show up this morning...
Well, probably everything will be in order... sooner or later...
Sounds nice with a visit to Kew Gardens at hte next London Meet, do you know when it´s going to take place?
Take care!

Maybe I was wrong, when I said you seemed to escape unfrazzled
I know all about the decorating front. A neighbour had a flood from their washing machine (twice) and I still haven't repaired the damage . I am also hoping to get a new kitchen installed sometime in the next two months, which is going to be a nightmare, as it is a galley kitchen and it is PACKED with stuff. Looks like I'll have to strew it all arouind the flat. Be a good chance to throw out all the out-of-date stuff. At least the Housing Association are dealing with it.
I'm sure you will get it resolved. I can understand the problem with and cases. I have three cases which are full (most books double-depth) and three piles of magazines on the floor. I'll soon have to move next door I think... The biggest collection is over 70 Arthurian-based books, and about the same on Natural History, followed by my collection of Cook-Books. On top of that I have a complete collection of Empire (film magazines) which is nearing it's 200th edition . Then all my Wildlife Magazines and National Geographics. One of these days I will go through them, and get the excess sent to a local residential home or School.
The Summer Meet will not be finallised until around April/May of next year, however I will let you know. It just seemed a good idea, as this year B'Elana and I walked around Hyde Park (twice) this year, which was her choice, so she suggested I choose for next year, and it seems a good venue, with plenty of Public Transport choices. All are welcome. I may even have a limited number of free passes (saves the £8:75 entry fee.)
Will speak again later if you are around.
Take care...

Hi Fiddlerman!
Sneak in from work... Still not online from home. The problem is problably in the router, told me. I´ve applied for a telephone appointment with him later this evening, and I hope that he can guide me through the faulty programme and thus get me back online again.
The never ending story of malfunctioning logistics at home is ongoing... Hopefully the missing handyman will show up during the afternoon to fix the shelves and lamps...
The kitchen is half rebuilt, just half... they need an electrician now, and he´s not available until Sodit aka Monday...
... and I must make space for the bathtub in my overcrowded basement storage. The bathtub need to get out, in order to get proper place for the washing machine and the dryer in the bathroom...
...just now I hope that it will be long before I move house next time...
I recognise the problem with abundant magazines. I gave my National Geographic, a couple of encyclopaedias and some other natural science magzines to the hospital library. They will probably put the magazines in waiting rooms at the hospital.
...and did you meet Peter Pan in Hyde Park? Haven´t read the books for ages, but got a vague remembrance he lived near a pond there... or am I mistaken?
Gotta work, still an hour to go!
Take care!

Hello Queen.
Sorry to hear of your on-going problems.
I've usually found that my internet problems are largely due to the computer deciding to drop my protocols. I then have to hunt high and low to find out how I reinsert the things. I normally end up having to phone the helpline and ask them to talk me through the restart porocedure
I don't like the sound of the Kitchen. I've been told that my kitchen will take a week, but that I will need to give the men enough room to have the kitchen units in my flat. But there isn't any room for them. Not unless I move out.
I am pleased that that is the only disruption. I would be lost without a bath. In England, it is illegal (I believe) to have a washing machine or tumble dryer in a bath-room, due to the dangers of electicution, which is why there are no power-points in bath-rooms. However if you are converting your basement to a bathroom, and the bathroom to a basement, I suppose it will not make that much difference, just more work.
>>and did you meet Peter Pan in Hyde Park?<<
Certainly did... Twice Poor B'Elana blames herself for that, but I think, in hindsight, it was probably my fault, for not knowing my way around Hyde Park (I've only lived in London for 22 years ) and that 'pond' is the Serpentine lake (400m circumference) which, walking around it twice on a hot daylast year, was what nearly killed me.
Hope the rest of your plans for your flat go well, and that you have a long and happy life there,
Speak later...

Hi Fiddlerman!
First message from my new home - but a quick one... dragon princess is eagerly waiting to use the laptop, still haven´t figured out how to get the PC online.
Have a nice Friday evening!

Hello!
How´s life in foggy London?
Here we getting the first reminders of the upcoming winter - ice covering the water puddles in the morning and people got to take away ice from their windscreens.I´m glad I live within walking distance from work, it makes life easier in the snowy part of the year.
PC:s are online, my oldest son the computer wiz, is at home during a mid semester break and he has got the router to work again. Cables everywhere still though. Hopefully he´ll fasten the to the wall one way or another so I don´t have to get entangled everytime I pass the living room.
Unfortunately there still not that very much action with the craftsmen. The kitchen is ready, but the electrician needs to fix something in there. When the new fridge was plugged in, one of the lamps turned dark... The bathroom has still not been taken care of... and the guy who´s going to put up my shelves has still not finished his work. He has called twiced and said to be on his way, but has not been visible at all..
...hopefully it´ll be done before X-mas..
Take care
