The clone of Bastet aka The Gayer-Anderson Cat, purchased at British Museum during last week's HooToo Meet, arrived to the Lair this afternoon.
The Cats in the Lair are somewhat confuzzled. Her Supreme Catesty has decided to accept the newbie, as long as she is subordinate. Li'l Kitty is mostly curious and Tiny Cat pretended to be totally uninterested. However he was later spotted climbing vigorously to get acquainted.
This photo was taken shortly after arrival. http://dingo.care2.com/pictures/c2c/galleries/cache/derivative/7/8/7890101.jpg Bastet has now moved to a hopefully safer spotwhere she won't be accidentally pushed down.

I was very well packaged. First it was in a big block of styrofoam which was placed in a box. That box was placed in another box filled with styrofoam beads.
The box was very bulky, and hard to carry even if it did not weigh more than 7 kgs. Usually it takes me less than ten minutes to walk from the post office. Today it took twice that time, since I also had two other bags to carry. I came from work and had done some errands on the way. Luckily I met a woman I know, so the last third of the way home I could lean the box towards her bike. That made it a lot easier.

I carried today's shopping home in a rucksack. It was so warm, and nearly all of the way back home is slightly uphill, so I was exhausted on arrival - and that was only the shopping I had.
Well done, you, for getting all these heavy items home.

you purchased an ancient dead deity? oh my bob, i'm afraid you are in for it now
if a stranger knocks on your door wearing nothing but bandages, you will know for sure. don't open!
by the way, the way you described the packing reminded very much of the way the ancient egyptians used to wrap up their deads: in coffins within caskets within sarcophaguses

Well, Bastet has not moved during the night, and her eyes are not glowing... so I assume she's not a goa'uld at least.
...and the dead don't scare me, the living might...

If someone wearing lots of bandages does turn up, surely you should just say 'Hello Mummy!'
And there's something appealing about a cat that stays where it's put.

princess once got herself a t-shirt at the British Museum with the face of Tutankhamon stating "I love my Mummy".
There was some debate whether that meant a mummy or yours truly...

That's a beautiful figure, DQ. I can imagine how difficult getting the bulky box home was. I've had stuff sent to my work address and lugged it home on the train. The only time anyone ever looked at me like I was was when I had the covered litter box. But maybe that's because there weren't any seats so I was sitting in the box.

Her Supreme Catesty, Queen Ishta of Hill Road and the surrounding Flat Lands, has got a thing for that box. Yesterday I spent quite som time clearing out all the styrofoam beads she - with help from and - had spread all over the kitchen and hallway. I thoroughly put it back and closed the box to her great displeasure.
However, this morning I woke up unnaturally early for a Sunday morning due to some strange noices. It was the burglar herself trying to break into the box.
DJ, son #2, had dinner here and was asked to put the box in the storage room in the basement, seven floors down. OK, he said - and put the box in my walk in closet!
Hatchlings!
