So why are Maclaren....

... the spawn of my client?

I can't say I've ever been that keen on them myself, but that does seem rather strong!

Ahem.

They don't like me for a start - I was doing a technology project on F1 and contacted all of the teams to ask if it was OK to use their names and logos etc in my project. They all said yes apart from the Spawn of Satan who said 'Our legal team say it's not possible'!!!!

Also just look at them. They never have any fun and are so clinical about the whole sport. Sport is supposed to be enjoyable but I don't think anyone ever told them that...

Plus they had David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen driving for them, two drivers who I never liked. Kimi is OK though, I think he was brainwashed by the Spawn before he knew what was going on.

That does sound unnecessarily stuffy of them; although they do provide entertainment when their Mercedes engines blow up at the German Grand Prix.

I must admit that I haven't watched much F1 this year: I'm not too keen on the rule changes. I could have lived with the points amendments, and one-lap qualifying is OK, but putting the cars into parc ferme between qualifying and the race has reduced it to a joke.

What I'd love to see is Michael schumacher winning the championship under the new system, and someone working out that Montoya would have won had they kept the points allocation the same as last year.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if one man/team are running away with things, it's up to the other competitors to stop them, not the governing body.

I agree - nobody thought about rule changes when Man United were winning everything in sight...

Also, watching Michael Schumacher drive a perfect race is entertaining! You don't go to see Pavarotti to see him mess up, but that seems to be what people hope Schumacher will do...

Yes, the FIA seem to have forgotten that F1 is competitive engineering as was racing, and it wasn't numbered "one" for nothing: if it's not the best then it loses a lot of its point.

Sorry, "as was racing" should read "as well as racing"

I really hope this GWPC thing doesn't happen! That will be the final nail in the coffin for F1...

Yes, it's impossible to put a financial value on the history and heritage of motor racing.

Which unfortunately means that people tend to ignore it when making ill-advised decisions.

Without the history, the sense that Schumacher can legitimately said to be driving where only Fangio has been before, there is only another menu item for Sky's Bread and Circuses...

Oh dear, Marvin territory, "Life..."
