I'd noticed your posting on the Chicago Meet thread, and I thought I'd drop by and say hello! Are you from the Chicago area? I live in the city, not too far from Wrigley Field. Were you planning on coming out for the Meet-Up? I'm looking forward to meeting as many of my fellow researchers as possible.

I've read over your introduction, and we have a few things in common. I love sci-fi and fantasy, too, for one thing. I also suffer from PTSD as a result of being raped as a teenager, and being involved in a serious car wreck. Enough about me, though...

Anyway, just thought I'd drop by and introduce myself. I'd love to talk with you some time, if you're so inclined. There's nothing better than meeting new friends! Hope to hear back from you soon! Take care,

Yes, I'm in the burbs. Right now I'm not planning on coming to the meet. Still need a sense of anonymity out here. Makes it easier for me to post the 'hard' things. Stilling trying to grok the concept of openness. Also, I'm working with an off-line friend who is experiencing some major problems. Wish she had web access. I think she could benefit from meeting some of us up here.

I wouldn't mind meeting one on one sometime though. Just need to get a little more comfortable sharing out here. Right now I can pretend that almost everyone is AI and in reality I am giving myself the answers I want to hear.

I understand the need for anonimity all too well. Have a hard time expressing myself even in this sort of venue at times. Sharing and openness can be downright terrifying. I'd been planning on going to the meet... but I do tend to chicken out and beg off things like that as the time draws near to actually *do* it.

As far as meetimg one on one goes, I'd be all for that. Large groups of people (especially ones I don't know well) actually make me more than a bit uncomfortable. I can't explain why, but you come across to me as someone I could trust. I don't feel that way very often.
