Hi

Viojen 2*16+1+3+6=42. Fencing-it's escrime!

NS tartan is blue and green and white and red and yellow. I think that's it. There's probably a formal way to describe tartan, but I don't know it, so I'll leave you with that description. And it's mainly blue.

First bio lesson was last Monday. (I have bio every day, and lab on tuesdays and fridays) It's been really good (prob. favorite class this year).

school-not bad. My algebra 2 class is really slow and boring, which is a pity, but I think I'll live. Math is one of my favorite subjects, and I had a really good teacher last year, but it doesn't seem to be that luck this year. French-boring. Same teacher as last year, so I'm annoyed. She said we'd have someone different. But we're using good textbooks this year (the same company that we've used for 2 of the other year's I've taken french. Last year we used a really lousy one, so everyone's glad to be back to something good) english-? i have no idea how this class is. It doesn't seem to hard, but on the first test I ran out of time and didn't even start one of the essays. So that seems bad, but we do a lot of vocab and grammar, which I'm better at than composition, so I may be able to pull off a good grade. We will start reading the Scarlet Letter soon. Social studies is also an smiley - erm subject. I really enjoy the class, but on a whole I tend to be lousy at remembering dates and stuff. Teacher apparently isn't that nice but has been nice last week because it was the first week of school.

I had my audition for school orchestra. It wasn't too bad, but it'll be a while before I know how well I did. A step up from last year though. After I played part of my solo our conductor talked about how I did (fairly complimentary) and then when I was doing sightreading he had me play different spots different ways, testing what I could do technically. So maybe this year he's really considering me to be someone worth something musically, which would be nice. I put in all my effort last year, but still only managed a B+, which may have had a lot to do with his opinion of me. (completely subjective grading, because v little written work for his class) I certainly had a longer audition than any of my peers (age-wise). The people I compare myself with musically haven't gone yet, because the audition process starts with the youngest violinists and works upwards. So I don't know where I stand yet, but it certainly seems somewhere better than last year. (and I have lots of nice input plus a lesson before my youth symphony auditionsmiley - smiley)
