Ha! We actually bought a new hoover a couple of months ago and Nog has yet to touch it.

But I have to say that Nog has been invaluable through all this, doing all the countless 'little things' that I am unable to do (like picking something up from the floor if I drop it) and taking care of the general housework, doing the shopping, etc.

I was cut from about six inches above my bellybutton down to my pubes and it's still quite painful most of the time. Plus it's a bit infected, so I hope that doesn't turn into anything nasty. But being at home again has helped a lot and I'm quite enjoying my 'solitude' after being on public display in my hospital room for a whole week.

Apparently the whole area that was removed (almost a metre of colon) was at the point of bursting by the time the surgeon got to me. I was actually lucky that the inadequate private hospital didn't try doing the operation, but if they hadn't misdiagnosed me for an entire week things wouldn't have got to the point of it being a life-or-death situation.

Anyhow, thanks for all your good wishes everyone! smiley - hug

Sorry, blicky. I forgot what a delicate little flower you are. smiley - biggrin Luckily Nog is less queasy because the nurse didn't show up yesterday and he had to help me change the dressing (ick).

Yeah, one of the seguridad social hospitals, Mar. I was actually lucky the private one refused to do the operation as I was then sent to the best place in town.

Feeling quite a bit better today, which might have something to do with having upped the amount of painkillers I've been taking...

Eeh the wonders of the interweb! I'm sending you lots of healing thoughts from Beijing.

That whole business sounded ghastly and I'm glad you're back on your feet and home with your boys.
And thank goodness for "sisters".

You can call me TC

Best wishes from me, too, Az. All that dithering is absolutely horrific. smiley - cheerup

I've been through something similar (got the same scar!) but I was lucky to be in a German hospital at the time. The delay before it dawned on them what was happening was quite long, but I stayed in the same hospital and was wheeled from gynaecology to surgery. By then they were in a hurry - you should have heard me yell when they hit the door frame, trying to charge through a door with the hospital bed!

Anyway - don't hesitate to sue. I wish I'd done it at the time, too. Let us know how you get on. How usual is it in Espana to take people to court on this sort of thing? And do you think you stand a chance against the medical lobby?

It might be fun instructing Nog into Zen & the Art of Hoovering "non, you have to lift that bit of carpet up...oh, there is a tapas under the tapis i dropped earlier...up a bit, left a bit..;suck!"

Well, so far, RDO. Of course I'm still hoping for good news from the oncologist.

As I'm feeling a bit better each day it gets easier to focus on positive things and really enjoy being at home again (the first 2-3 days here were kinda tough).

Been mostly reading and watching DVDs as well as doing a bit of blogging. I really can't wait until I can take my first walk outside!

My friend Susan took me out for lunch yesterday - it was my first time out of the house in three weeks and it was great to get out, though I was pretty tired afterwards. And try as I might, I wasn't able to finish the two tapas I ordered. I guess that's one 'bonus' of this whole ordeal - I've lost about 9 kilos so far.

Meanwhile, I'm worried about getting rent & bill money together after a month off work (the downside of being a freelance English teacher). . .

Well, it now looks like I'll be off work all summer and possibly longer. Thanks to those who are helping out with donations - it's really helping ease some of the extra stress. smiley - hug

I had my appointment with Oncology on Tuesday. The 3 cm tumour they removed was malignant.

I need to go for a thorax and abdominal CT scan next Wednesday (11th June) to see if I am 'clean'.

I will be starting chemotherapy on 18th of June.

That's all I know for now.
