Yeah, family and friends can help a lot. I tend to get a bit insular - must remember to remember my friends.
Well, it's to be expected that the funeral, etc, would be hard on you. Definitely a time for reflection. Anyhow, glad to hear you're feeling better. Just take it a day at a time.

Will do! Trouble is I tend to expect to get over things in a blink and then can't understand why I haven't !
Am going to have a severe house clean out this weekend - that always seems to help - strange cos I LOATHE housework!

Ah, distraction therapy - I know it well!
I also think it works quite well now and again when you just can't sit with your feelings - so just *doing* something is a help in itself.
And you're not alone feeling you should be able to 'get over things in a blink'. I do that far too often - and it's never a good thing. You really need to be gentle and caring with yourself, as you would do with any friend who asked you for help, and then give yourself just as much time as you need.
If it helps, think about if I came to you in a similar circumstance. What would you say to me? What advice would you give me? And then do all that for yourself.
Okay?

Ah, good advice....I shall try to follow it - how good are you at following advice Az ?
Feeling much better, we have a long weekend, but I guess that the test will be going back to work tomorrow. I'm sure that if I could just get a whole night's sleep it would help!
Have begun to think about doing something psitive, the "Race for Life" or something (I DON'T run!). My niece is doing a half marathon in aid of Cancer Research (she was already signed up for it prior to her dad's death) and just doing SOMETHING seems like a very good idea.

ME follow advice??? Whaddarya - nuts?
Actually, I *do* from time to time, but it's so hard to get good advice these days, doncha find?
Meanwhile, if you figure out how to get a whole night's sleep, please let me know. Nog is very good at just 'switching off' his brain when he goes to bed - world-class sleeper that one.

Ah - going off - not a problem.....going off after I've woken at 4am...now THAT'S difficult!

Interesting ... I can usually get to sleep okay. It's *staying* asleep that's my problem. And why is it always 4am???
The very occasional nights I manage a full 7 uninterrupted hours of sleep I honestly wake up next day feeling quite reborn. Imagine how great I'd feel if I could do this every night.
How's Bristol these days? Haven't been there in ages. A friend of mine has opened a cafe on the waterfront. Do you know it?

4am - weird, isn't it??? Even worse in the summer when it's just getting light then.
The Folk House - haven't been up there for years!
Just been for a walk on the Cotswolds, but at 27 degrees it's a bit TOO warm!

Ah ha, checking out the map I see I was confused as to the location - I thought it was down on the waterfront. Anyhow, my friend Lizzie took over the café in the spring. If you haven't been there lately you might want to check it out - the menu looks quite good.
L's brother used to own Rocinante on Whiteladies Road. I met her when I was working there back in 1992.
I used to live at the top of Park Street in Berkeley Crescent, across from the museum. You know that crescent shaped building with the little garden in front?
Yeah, I don't know why it's always 4am. And I can never sleep past 7 because those dern cats start squawking for their brekky then.

Might give it a go on the weekend - we quite often mooch up and down Park Street. Berkeley Crescent - ooh posh! I rented a bedsit in my teens at the top of Whiteladies Road - it nearly bankrupted me!
I have to get up at 6 in the week, so a 4am wake up is a real killer

Well, although it was (is?) a listed building, the flats were far from posh in our section of it. Magnolia walls, hideous beige wall-to-wall carpet and window frames that let in gale-force winds. But it was a great location and we had very nice views.
Yeah, I usually end up reading till about 6 and then finally drift off again about 6.45...

Thought of you yesterday morning as I woke up at 7am and thought - well, hot dang! - I'd actually slept a whole seven hours non-stop!
It was a lovely feeling. I felt soooo relaxed and refreshed.

4am! I'm doing OK - should've gone camping today, but didn't wake up until 9.30 (unheard of!) - so I guess that I'm still paddling away like mad underneath!
How are you - haven't been lurking as much as usual, so bit out of touch.

I'm okay, other than the fact that it's 4am once again and I'm awake.
Must start doing yoga again . . .

Managed TWO nights in a row!! I must be tired. I've found that getting myself off the PC by 9 seems to help my brain to slow down.....
