Hi Chai
we not spoken for a long time. I was lurking through old convos today and came across your mention of a book which at the time you could not get published. Is this still the case and would you still like to publish it? I ask because my husband has recently published a book on Lulu.com and I intend putting some of my own stuff there at some point. Have you considered self-publishing, we can give advice if required on how to navigate lulu. You can pay a small amount for things such as an isbn, but then copies are printed on demand only and you get a percentage of each one printed. You can also publish the book via the web and so no paper is required. Our local bookshop will be stocking my husbands book as well, so once you have a copy, it can allow you to get into other places.
Its a good way to get the power back and get your stuff out there without paying agents a percentage as well.

Hi, R U1025853,
Thanks for your advice. I haven't even looked at h2g2 for so long, and am only on site today because of the death of a dear friend about whom Recumbentman has written a piece. So I thought to check out my last messages. I can't remember now which book I was trying to get published. It might have been a collection of short poems. I've been moving house from Dublin down to County Mayo in the extreme west of Ireland, rebuilding a house and building a new studio. Still at it, with little spare energy for writing, even on h2g2, nor indeed on oedilf. When there's more time, I'll investigate lulu. But thanks so much for the advice, and for bothering to contact me.
Cheers,
Chaiwallah
