My knowledge of gardening is very small, but this does seem very impressive My garden never *always* had something in flower. It *always* had something dead in it though

Aawww. I'm sorry its not going well I'm guessing its a large pond, so bailing out to find the leak is not an option?

Does someone need a plumber? *hitches up the tool belt, and hauls down the trousers for the proper 'plumber's crack' *

I'm just waiting for the level to drop down to the hole, so that I can repair it. I only noticed the ing hole after we'd started landscaping around it!

I'm kinda curious too. With so many variants of vinyls, plastics, rubbers, polymers, ... After dried and really, REALLY thoroughly cleansed, .I'd think you need to match a patch and adhesive pretty carefully.
*waits to learn*

Right, I've found the hole, which is mercifully only about 5" from the top. You were quite right to be cynical, there doesn't seem to be a way of repairing it
However, it's close enough to the edge for me to be able to drain the pond and shift the liner over. I would have had to do extensive re-landscaping anyway, as we have children in the garden in the summer we need some H&S measures, and we've decided to create a shelf around the whole of the outside of the pond a few inches below the surface, and boggy ground for a few inches beyond that where possible. Further security will be provided by a galvanised metal grate over the deepest part, resting on the shelf so as to be well-hidden.
In other words, take the whole thing out and start again
In other news, despite working two eight hour days today and yesterday, I managed to create a rock garden and mini-heath from scratch.

You have been busy.
Re-doing the pond sounds like a long job At least you won't have to dig the hole again.
I'd love a bog garden, it opens up a whole new planting area and carnivorous plants thrive in those conditions. With any luck, they can grow big enough to eat any naughty children
with the pond.
