h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

For about a week we´ve had extremely hot weather. Around 30 centigrades in the shade, and for somebody like me who starts to feel wobbly at 25 in the shade, it is not easy. Most Scandinavians love this kind of weather, probably because we are having long, dark cold winters. I wish I could share their complete happiness this past week. But I really can´t. I find the warm weather very hard to cope with. It is like my whole system has shut down...

Are you happy in the heat?
Or are you more like me, looking for shade?

Heat is terrible, especially with this humidity.
I like warm and sunny weather but 25C is my limit. In 30C it's nothing enjoyable (unless you enjoy sitting in the cellar keeping feet in the cold water).

September, the old-wives-summer is my favourite time of the year.

I am much like both of you, I find 30 C too much...although we have had a few days of that & I have survived somehow. I find that being born & raised further north you just naturally develop more tolerance for cooler temperatures...because you're exposed to so much of them. Even 25 is a little much for me, if it's between 18 & 21 that's good, 22 to even 27 is bearable. Anything too much above 30 & you're likely to find me soaking in a nice cool bath, with a cold drink.

Where would we be without damp s? It is a little cooler today, only 25C. Jazz you have a point there, we notherners aren´t made for these temperatures. isn´t at it´s best in the heat either...

Wouldn´t be doing to much these days though. The evenings are very nice. You might as well stay up late since it is too hot to sleep.

Especially if you have shooting stars to look at.

Can you see the Perseids or Leonids or what they are called?!
Gothenburg is useless for those things, because of the lights from the city.

Tonight it's Perseides.
I took my on a walk out of the town (1 km from here) but when we returned it turned out that actually it's quite possible to see the shooting stars from my own backyard.
