Introduction

Hello, I'm Father Brendan-Benedict, an Orthodox Christian priest-monk living in Phoenix, Arizona. (Of course I am not really Pope, Patriarch etc., that is just a title to use in the Thingite Conversation.)

I have often heard it said that in polite company, one should never talk about religion or politics. I will add another topic to that list, and that is sex. I will also add that I am not polite company, and so I will discuss all three of the above at any time.

Have you ever asked anyone, "How are you?" Of course you have! Have you ever really wanted information about that person's health? No! So why ask the question? Why not some other equally meaningless null formal sound that conforms to the standard of a greeting? If someone asks me how I am doing, I tell them!

And speaking of health, I want to mention that I am not in the best of health. I have fibromyalgia (also known as FMS or fibro), and so I am sick a lot of the time. It is not fun.
