A little about me (plus my view of the world)
I am a college student studying computer science at the University of Illinois, which, I should add (this being a British site after all), is in the US. By saying this I am only assuming that Europeans are as ignorant of foreign geography as Americans, which may or may not be the case. Keep in mind that as an American I find even the fact that this is a British site novel. I have many strong beliefs and am also undecided about many issues. I try to keep an open mind, though I am sure I am somewhat prejudiced against the rest of the world because THEY HATE US. And by hate I mean place the full blame of their countries' social and economic problems on us, just for being a rich capitalist "imperialist" nation. But I should leave the rants for future posts. I sometimes just do that, throw ideas out, with nothing to back them up, just to see whether there's an intelligent argument against it. I like to see arguments resolved, whether I convince somebody I'm right or they convince me that I'm wrong. Of course neither of those things ever happens, because we're all a bunch of closed-minded jerks whether we like to admit it or not.
One thing that should be made clear is that I'm a Bible-believing follower of Christ. I'm not a Catholic, I'm not a Protestant, since those are merely distinctions man has set up. I believe Christianity is not (meant to be) a set of rules and rites, but simply an absolute focus on Christ, following his teachings (love your neighbor as yourself, love God with all your heart, mind, and strength), and living a responsible life. There are no magic words, no intermediaries between you and God, and only two real sacraments (baptism and communion), which are largely symbolic. The institution of the church has often been corrupt, which is sad because horrible things have been done in the name of Christ, though the responsibility falls on the human institution. After all, Christ never would have approved of the Crusades, or of the Salem witch trials, or the Ku Klux Klan, or any of the awful things done by those calling themselves Christians. Well, this is turning into a sermon now so I think I'll call it a night. If you read this, please send me any questions or corrections you might have. Thanks.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
