Hello there Unc

*Hijacks a computer for a few minutes*
Hmmm, something biology related? Or university? Or pink elephant?
Oh, I don't know.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 2, 2003
I haven't I'm afraid.
You're welcome to stay.
I might have been asking you if you want to do a joint entry on bladderwrack, but I thought you might be heartily sick of bladderwrack, so I decided not to.
Hello there Unc
Laura Posted Sep 2, 2003
I have to write a 5000 word report, part of which includes wracks. Have you studied anything else for rocky shores? Coul write a nice ecology entry.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 2, 2003
Only bladderwrack, but I have to write about 3000 words about how that gets longer the closer to Chart Datum you get.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 2, 2003
I did something about that, their lenghts on sheltered and open rock shores.
Hello there Unc
Laura Posted Sep 3, 2003
It was an experiment on their activity in different salinities of sea water, ended up with the things crawlin all over the desks.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 3, 2003
Ah, the only exposure to crawling things I had was painting sandhoppers.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 3, 2003
Yes. Except not recapture. Paint fifty. Recapture fifty. Not necessarily painted ones. Using some index or other work out the population of sandhoppers in the area.
Hello there Unc
Laura Posted Sep 3, 2003
Yup, did that for woodlice. To estimate overall population size.
Hello there Unc
Researcher 185550 Posted Sep 3, 2003
I think we got 150 back in the end. It was the most absorbed my biology teacher had ever seen me- largely I give the impression of being stoned out of my mind, but I apparently really came to life when catching and painting sandhoppers.
