Two years of hootoo..
Laura Started conversation Jan 27, 2005
.. and I've only written 2 entries, quite pathetic really . Especially considering I wrote those in the first few months . I guess I have met loads of people though, and quite a few of them in real life, both at and outside meets. One of them has caused my world to go a bit soft and fuzzy about the edges , and we've been together long enough now for me to not often have to try and explain to non hootooers how we met, which takes some doing .
All in all it's been a good couple of years, so to all the researchers I've talked to, apologies to all those I've whined at when work's been annoying and thanks to all those who've cheered me up and made me smile after yet another really depressing lecture on how the world's in no small mess.
One day I might even get round to writing another entry

I reckon I've been here about three years and I've only written three entries.
I should get down to another one one of these days.
Cool knowing you !

No entries written - but helped with your playdoo entry ( sort of) - does that count ?
I've never heard you whine, Unc,I admire your diligence profoundly, and I'm glad that I met you in RL, if only for a very short while.
I'd be happy if you were around more soon.

Laura Posted Jan 27, 2005
My trouble is I start entries, get caught up in some real life event, and then either forget about them or forget what I was leading to . I have quite a few half finished entries. You're responsible for a paragraph Bel, I'm sure that counts
Going away this weekend (rambling in Dartmoor ) but other than that I'm online more now that the exams are over and there's not so much coursework to do. It'll all change in a few weeks but I actually have some free time at the moment

I always forget how long I've been here, it seems ages, I long ago gave up looking for the 'exit' to get out enjoy the rambling

A "nearly" happy birthday to you Unc. You are one of the finer, or is that r, folks I've met here. Certainly one who keeps this place interesting. I'm a couple of months from my first b-day, and haven't even thought of a topic to write about yet.

Laura Posted Jan 31, 2005
Nice to know I can still be put up with, I'm still a hootoo addict and I haven't even tried looking for the exit button, so you're stuck with me for a while yet . Dartmoor was great , and there were loads of ponies Gone and got mild achilles tendonitus (spl?) again , but I like it when doctor's orders are to keep walking on it
I've lots of things to write about, but I just don't get anywhere. Mosat recent example was when I tried to write about insects, used terms liked 'spiricals' and 'chetea' and then realised that it might be an idea to explain what they were. Trying to fit so much entomology into a general article was just too difficult .

Odo Posted Jan 31, 2005
Ouch for the tendonitus though. At least you've got a sympathetic if he told you to keep walking. Mine banned me from archery and bell ringing for three months when I damaged a tendon in my wrist.

Laura Posted Jan 31, 2005
It's only a mild flare, I haven't snapped the tendon fortunately. Ouch , my doctor's a rambler, so she knows full well there's no point trying to tell me not to walk, especially when it's Kinder Scout next week . Haven't been able to go to archery for over a year, keeps clashing with walks

Odo Posted Jan 31, 2005
I hope it's settled down again then.
Mine is more or less better now, it wasn't snapped, just very badly pulled and bruised; and it was my own fault to. Ho hum, I'll be back to the sword swinging again after Easter.
I've only just started on the archery again having found a new club after moving.
Where is Kinder Scout? Or are you off camping with the Scouts?

Laura Posted Jan 31, 2005
I'm on some anti-inflametries of some sort for the next ages , I've done it before though, apparently I can get it every time I get a new pair of shoes .
It's in Derbyshire, in the Dark Peak area. I suppose it could be called a mountain, but the name really doesn't suit it. It's more a huge lump of peat and trying to get across the platue is great fun Not camping with the scouts but there's pack holiday with the Brownies after easter.

Sounds like fun. Hope the weather is good for you otherwise it sounds like it'll be heavy going.

Laura Posted Feb 1, 2005
The weather on Kinder is rarely any better than dreadfull. I remember it being sunny once, it just seemed odd . Get wet from falling in the gulleys anyway (it's inevitable), so rain doesn't make much difference Had lovely weather on Dartmoor though, it didn't start raining until we were on the coach about to leave

I thought you'd been a hootoo'er for longer than two years Unc. I joined the DNA family via BotF in February 2003, so I'm not far behind you, although I only really properly got into h2g2 about a year ago after BotF got wound up and I got bored with Get Writing.
So, it seems you discovered this place only very shortly before me, and yet you already seemed like an expert when I first ran into you on BotF.
Two years goes by quick, doesn't it?
Liz
