h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I may have mentioned around here somewhere a certain silly fondness for a certain liquor which might be said to make the heart grow fonder, a liquor which involves flavourings of anise, fennel and what, in Ukrainian they call 'Chernobyl'.

I may also have mentioned a certain Arab apparatus I've fashioned in a special room in my basement.

Well, with the encouragement of a certain local brewery and with the guidance of a century-and-a-half old recipe, I have managed to produce a litre of a certain faerie of the green persuasion which, frankly, is indistinguishable from commercial productions.


It even has the louche!

Made from apples (mostly).

Just kidding.

I'm having trouble finding anyone in the real life neighborhood with whom to share my achievement.

I tried to earlier at the unnamed local brewery, but there was a revenooer on the premises.

So, Okanagan Spirits in Vernon has come up with the first Canadian-made product of this description http://www.okanaganspirits.com/buy-absinthe-canada/index.html and it's pretty good.



But . . .

at about 60 bucks for a half-litre (Alberta prices) . . .


I suspect I could make a tidy little profit if I were so inclined.



Actually, someone nearby is picking my (rapidly disappearing) brain in the hopes of producing a commercial cold-infused version, which would be a particularly amusing addition to my resume.
