So, where have you all gone?!

I haven't heard from any of you in months.... anyone checked out anything new and exciting lately?
My fiance bought me the new BRMC when I was in London back in August, and Killing Joke are coming to Chi-Town November 1st. Not much else to report, I'm afraid.
how are y'all doing?

I would love to hear the new Killing Joke album, is it anything like
Pandaemonium? Which I love.
hi psychocandy, yes I am stalking you!!

Hi, Kaz! Stalk away, I'm not exactly hiding from you!
I haven't heard the new Killing Joke yet, though I have heard from another friend in the UK who's got it this week, and it sounds like it's really good! I'll probably have a copy in hand within the next few weeks, can't wait to check it out!
"Pandaemonium" is a brilliant album. My copy was lent out ages ago and went missing, so I haven't listened in quite a while. I've been playing Killing Joke a lot lately, they're one of my very favorite bands. I picked up a copy of "Laugh? I Nearly Bought One!" while I was in Ipswich, so at least I've got all of their best tunes on CD again. Much of my vinyl collection has disappeared, and I had to deep-six my turntable a while ago, anyway, so I'm having to replace a lot of older stuff.
The same friend has also picked up the new Jane's Addiction, and recommends that as well. I remember when "Nothing's Shocking" came out, I was already working on a part-time internship at the college radio station in my home town, and I played the h*ll out of that one, especially "Mountain Song" and "Idiots Rule". Can't wait to hear this new one, either!
I've also been on a Stranglers and Gang Of Four binge of late. If I'm going to be acquiring anything new soon, I'd better get a new battery charger for my portable player, so I can listen at work. Has anyone else gotten anything they'd recommend recently?

Hi psycho
I do love the Stranglers! This is more Moonglums area I think, I wonder what he recommends? Don't suppose Gallon Drunk is punk is it? Then again what is punk?!

I've just moved to Leeds. Interestingly, I just saw a poster on my way home for a tribute band double bill - a Clash tribute band were supporting a Stranglers tribute band.
I find this strange - it would never have been thus in real life, surely? Maybe the pecking order for covers band is done according to the reputation of the cover band rather than the band they're a tribute to?

I'm not h2g2 as much as I used to be, so I guess my part in the HPS kind of fizzled out. Superdogmonkey, who used to contribute quite a lot to these threads, isn't on h2g2 anymore which is a shame. I'm still email/letter touch with him, and we swap CDs through the post.

Hiya, Rocket Man. I'd noticed you aren't around as much as you used to be... but then, neither am I, for that matter.
I've also stayed in touch with Superdogmonkey off-site, we've swapped a few CDs as well. It is a shame to see people who've made a valuable contribution depart, but it is understandable, for a myriad of reasons. It's especially a pity when they're driven away, in part or in whole, by people whose only contribution is to act like loudmouthed, immature t**ts. Such is life, I suppose.
I still thoroughly enjoy the CD you'd sent me as well, I keep it at work and listen to it once or twice a week. It annoys the hell out of the person who sits nearest me, which is an added bonus.
Killing Joke is playing in Chicago November 1st!! I'm hoping I'll be able to go. There's also Eleventh Dream Day, KMFDM, Razed in Black, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Anti-Flag coming up. Wish I had the free time, or the spare cash, to see them all!

I'm still enjoying the Mike Ness CD that you sent me too. In fact, I liked it so much that I got myself a copy of Social Distortion's 'White light/White heat/White trash'album, which I play an awful lot
I've been working quite hard on getting issue #2 of my zine written, starting a band and also doing a shit load of school work recently which has meant that I've neglected h2g2. It's a shame really, as I used to love being an active member of the community
Maybe I could send you a copy of the first issue of my zine? I still have you address written down in my notebook.
I might update the Punk Society Page, as there's an article that I wrote for the zine that I've uploaded to h2g2. It's called 'The Serial Killer Joel Rifkin and the end of Reagan Youth', and can be found at A1906652.

If you like Social D., I've got 2 other CDs I'd be happy to send copies of, if you'd like. Glad you're still enjoying the Mike Ness!
I'd love a copy of issue one of your Zine! That'd be awesome! Best of luck with issue 2, with the band, and with your school work. Gotta have priorities, unfortunately. I've been on a hiatus of sorts myself, been working massive overtime and most of my "free" time I'm either scrambling to attend to my other "responsibilities", or too tired to breathe not to mention be as active as I'd like around h2.
Thanks for that link, I'm definitely going to check out the article.
