Storm last night

Wow, what a storm we had last night. Wookie
spent the evening indoors, his eyes glued to the fireplace whence came howling noises!!
No damage outside, but my Rhus is shedding all its firey leaves.

Rain, rain, rain.

The town is waterlogged today-sandbags everywhere-and I have my own lake at the front door.
My puss and I shall have to invest in a small boat. We can then row to the garden gate.

A rose

I learnt, this evening, that the well-known poet Rainer Marie Rilke had this profound thing to say, amongst others, whilst out picking roses to put into his lover's vase :
.."The rose-gatherer grasps suddenly
The full bud of his vitality...

I now have at least 3 large 
's hiding in my house(and maybe more that I didn't notice as they scurried past me). Wookie is totally uninterested in them. I think that he is scared of them.
Time for Wookie and I to climb into bed for our goodnight
