smiley - blush thanks about the artilce! yes I've been changing... I hope the trans thing is what we are getting at,(otherwise I've just had a really odd conversation about decorating) I don't broadcast it around hootooo but I mention it when relevent to a conversation and it seems to be most people have been great about it here! and in general so I'm luckly I know. I suspose I should say I'm ftm as it's not obvious from my userpage..

Yep, that's just what we're talking about. I don't really care who knows about my transgenderism, but I tend to 'go slow' when talking to others in the same boat in case they don't want it broadcast. It can lead to some very roundabout conversations! smiley - winkeye

I'm mtf, as you can probably guess from my currently feminine moniker. Though I've only just started...exploring, as I've only been able to explore online for the last however long it's been. Luckily most of my closest friends have been supportive and a few new friends really, really want to help out!

Breaking up with my partner helped too, but that's a longer story.

Hi again, Well don't worry I don't want to broadcast but I don't mind having a quiet word on someone's personal space. It's amazing how often people forget considering I've mentioned in various conversation several times. But never in the one on my article on it.. .

Glad to hear things are going welll !!!

I've been post op for about 18 months now.... and things are also going well most of my friends have been supportive and I didn't ahve a serious relationship then anyway.. (I'm 21 now was 19 when I... transisioned) and my family are relativly ok with it all.

Wow, congrats. I'm so jealous smiley - winkeye

Me, I'm 31 and only just looking at this now. Kinda looking at the last 10+ years as a bit wasted in this specific regard, but a bit late now to worry about that.

Hey at least you've realised now! looking back i find it's amazing how much I've gained from my past life I didn't feel it wasted at all! It's a major step coming out of the cyber world and into hte real one, takes a hell a lot of courage.. (we warned you will get sick to death of people telling you how much courage you have!)

I tend to admit that I very much idenfity as transseuxal (double s, one word no hyphen) rather than transgender.. though it did take me just over a year to work out the difference.

Actually, right now I'm getting sick of people telling me to 'take it slow and be sure'. Good advice, but not over and over.

Now you'll have to tell me the difference. I'm not fully sure myself.

Yeah that must get annoying..I think what they mean is don't do it all i the rush of euphoria that comes when you first admit to yourself that this is what that you want! before the cons come into focus properply!

Oh that's true. I realise they're just trying to be helpful but after the tenth bit of 'advice' you just want to less than politely tell them where to go smiley - smiley

I had the opposite problem, no one really told me what they though to try and avoid offending me!. Maybe that's an English thing! But that got a bit grinding after a while!

Oh in Australia we call a spade a shovel so I'll get opinions left and right smiley - winkeye

I'm not sure which is worse to tell you the truth!

So what is the difference between transexual and transgendered?

Hi lisawolf..

Post 13

Z

Oh right, well at least you know people are being honest! it's taken me about 4 years to work this one out. "transgendered people don't feel that they really belong to either gender, trassexauls are quiet sure which gender they belong too, they were just born into the other one.."

Does that make sense..smiley - erm

Good point about the honesty thing. And I guess I'd rather honesty than 'lying by omission', if you understand what I mean.

Ahh...now I understand. Well in that case I'd say I fall into the 'transsexual' category. I'm happy with that smiley - winkeye

Well I hope I've got it right, I only thought of that definition this morning! after a discussion with a friend who identifys as TGish ! I do sometimes wish people would be honest at the mo, i sometimes wonder if it ever happened!

Well I know there's a difference between the two 'situations' and your definition sounds logical.

smiley - hug if you want them.

I really wish people would be honest too. I'm learning to be honest (given I've spent most of my life lying to myself) and I'm seeing so much 'well intended' dishonesty in others (and sometimes some less well intended dishonesty). It's a pain.

Hi lisawolf..

Yup honesty is really valued isn't it at the moment! but sometime you have to tell people that you want them to be honest... amazing what sharing a bottle of smiley - redwine can do..

How are things otherwise... are you still working for the same people you were before?

For me I find that conversations shared over smiley - redwine or smiley - coffee is usually productive smiley - smiley

Yes, I am. I probably will be for a while, though we'll see how they take all this when I'm ready to talk to them about it. I want to give a bit more time because they've just given me a lot of leeway since I just broke up with my ex. I don't want to strain the 'friendship'.
