Hi there Robtee
I am addicted to RPG games!
Which kind of games do you prefer and which did you have a hand in creating?

Absolutely ALL the Might and Magic series - including 'Heroes' - although M&M 9 is a little disappointing - I can't get used to the odd format for the characters - they're a bit like cartoon faces pasted over the body.
My all-time favourite was M&M6 - huge with so many possible variations.
I also like Wheel of Time, Persian Wars, Starship Titanic, all the Star-Treks (ST Academy being a particular favourite) and all the old ones I used to play on Sega such as Rings of Power. I was such a nerd with those I kept notebooks on them all!
Finally, I now have The Elder Scrolls and Ancient Dragon (a very old one for which I need an older version of Wondoze in order to play it!)
waiting for attention.

YAY! Gamers!
Well, I had a hand in creating quite a few computer games in my time, but most of them were for the consoles like N64 and PlayStation. The most famous and recent of these was Stuntman on the PlayStation2. Before that there was Driver and Hogs of War - nothing too spectacular really!
The only PC game I worked on of any worth was Independence War: Edge of Chaos, which was something like three years in the making. I had the unenviable task of de-bugging it for 6 months!
I'm actually quite new to PC gaming, but its growing on me fast - I've just bought myself Command and Conquer red alert 2, which i'm enjoying but it seems a little easy at the moment. A friend of mine lent me Deus Ex, which is really hard (lots of sneaking about) and Soldier of Fortune II, which doesn't really run that well on my machine, unfortunately.
I'm really into first person shooters in a big way, my all-time favorite being Counter-Strike, and I also enjoy the Quake games and Unreal (trying to teach myself how to use the UnrealEd program to make maps, but its a bit tricky to say the least!).
I went shopping yesterday to buy HomeWorld, because I had it highly recommended to me, but I couldn't find it anywhere! Does anyone know if its worth hunting down?
By the way, does anyone know if Warcraft III is any good? Should I get it, even if I'm new to the RPG genre?
Love the christmas decorations btw!

I'm playing Warcraft III now - and I think it's a lot of fun. However, I don't usually play this type of rpg game (I'm more the search for treasure and kill monsters type, or solve riddles... not really a shooter or "hack and slash" fan) But I love this game. You get to play as one of 4 different races (Orc, Undead, Human or Night Elf) and each race has their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Once you go though all of the campaigns (and there are about 12 for each race I think) you can then play custom games against the computer (you pick the map, and how many teams you want to play on it, and whether you want to go solo against the computer, or whether you want to have teams and allies). Which is what I'm doing now... You start off with 5 workers and have to build your barracks, hero alter and farms to support your people. You also have to mine gold and harvest lumber to be able to build the structures. So your kind of in charge of an entire village, and you have to defend them and build your army, while conquering others, and local monsters to get to other goldmines when yours runs out of gold.
Then of course you can also play live over the internet... But I keep getting my "behind" kicked, and I get slaughtered immediately, so I'm trying to get better by playing the computer before I really spend any time over Battlenet. Of course it doesn't help that I know the cheat codes
Gee Does it look like I'm addicted?

Yep!
I leave my son to play online! He seems to be an addict also and even goes to gaming weekends and conventions.
Like you, Michele, I tend to prefer the quest-solving; sneaking around being a thief one moment and then doing something heroic and upping my reputation to almost saintlike proportions.
In M&M VII I seemed to make a bad choice somewhere along the line and got hopelessly lost - you know the sort of thing. I spent weeks going around in circles trying to find out where I should be/who I should talk to next and never even got to rebuild my castle. Ah well - maybe I'll have time to play it through again sometime.
I also liked the old platform games which I played on my Sega (sorry, never have invested in a Nintendo!). Before that I had an old Commodore 64 and Atari - so I'm also indulging in a nostalgia trip now they are re-releasing them all for the pc.
I'm glad you like the deccies robtee - I wasn't sure if I'd overdone it a bit, but it isn't my fault the tree has fallen over!

Oh - and yes, Warcraft III. My son insisted on me having a copy and although I've only played it briefly, I can certainly see it being addictive, although the 'rebuilding' parts can be a bit long-winded at times.
