G'day creachy!

It was nice to meet you and I like your stick. The stick is, of course, one of the most useful objects in the universe - as clearly stated here A53605 (in case you hadn't already seen it).

I have withdrawn from the war because it quickly became apparent that it is pointless to continue when one side adheres to rules which the other does not recognise or accept. I win, you win, I win, you win.... in the end no-one "wins" anything and a perfect opportunity to let the imagination run free is missed.

I don't want adhoc rules when I visit h2g2. Mostly I post from work and I don't have the time or inclination to decipher what someone else thinks are good ideas for rules. IMHO, it is not what a good virtual society, such as h2g2, is about.

Rules are for reality, anarchy (or something akin to it) are what virtual life is about. Just my opinion, you understand.

Anyway, have fun. I hope I bump into you about the place now and then.

the only problem we had, and it is a big one, is that people were posting in several different threads at once. this is the biggest rule, broken.

it is a shame you have dropped out and i was going to within an hour of it starting. but once a common ground is reached you will see just how much the imagination can go. you just have to read a bit of blog from a few of our war threads and you will see what happens, and that all happens whilst adhering to the rules of continuity that are put in place to ensure fair play.

it is unfortunate you jined late. you would have seen it was all going fine until several thingites broke the rules and appeared in several threads all at once. this confused us who are used to the continuity rules. maybe it was not their fault, as they may not have been aware of them (despite a link being posted with the official declaration of war) but when we pointed it out to them they decided to do it more and it just got sillier and sillier.

i am sure that after tomorrow when Spook and the Ostrich speak. we can battle to our minds content.

basically, all you have to do to keep continuity is stay in one thread, unless you state you have left of course. and never, under any circumstances, decide what happens to another player. leave it up to them, and trust me, we do play fair. otherwise it would be no fun.

so please stay, i look forward to kickin your asssmiley - winkeye

My point is that the "continuity rule" is not a rule at all. It doesn't appear in the House Rules for h2g2 or the bbc and *they* are the rules by which I have agreed to abide.

Limiting imagination with arbitrary rules is simply not my cup of smiley - tea. I come here to get away from rules (as much as possible), not to have new ones, to which I haven't agreed, imposed on me.

So I guess i'll have to kick your ass some other time. smiley - winkeye

BTW, posting in multiple threads at the same time is a Thingite tradition. I doubt that you'll be able to break *that* habit in a hurry.

*the stick starts to shake. and if it had blood vessels and veins it would probably have gone deep red and pulsated*

i_don't_think_i_can_hold_him_much_longer...*the stick escapes*

*Wilfred now flies around the thread smashing holes into the fabric of cyberspace causing an immense suction that blows up a load of dust. Wilfred cracks about Evil Roy and continuously attacks his shins with deadly pace and venom. then in a small sprinkle of light, turns into a banoffee pie in a tin foil container*

If I recognised who (or what) helelou is then, I'd probably know who (or what) helelou was, but as I don't, I don't.

Funnily enough the fabic of cyberspace doesn't seem to be very badly damaged over here...

::pokes at the fabric with a pencil::

Hmmmm, must be a localised thing...

That was smiley - cool, especially the turning into a pie bit.
