Hi Sam,

Yes - but not always same day... The way we are working it right now in Cape Town is that I am using a PC with Internet access in the foyer of the Royal Cape Yacht Club. This is a great facility they offer to visitors and guests, but the speed is not always the best of course, they restrict the use of Disks etc, and lots of other people want to use it as well, however it is FREE. Naturally I will use this over the onboard Iriduim link whenever possible. Every days since we arrived bar one, I have been able to use it to send the daily log and email. This is the bigpond address you will have seen stuff coming through on. This is my own webmail address.

This all means we are not logging in on the Iridium phone and pulling down email from it every day.

I'm not accessing the mailbox I use for the iridium phone from land because I don't want the slightest chance of that mail box becoming used for anything other than small emails from and to our shore based comms coordinators like you, Richard and Bec.

So... until we leave please send your email to the Bigpond address or via H2G2. I log in here every day all things permitting!

Best regards

Nick

Certainly we have friends in Birdlife and the BBC however we are currently living on the yacht in the marina at the Royal Cape Yacht Club, which is some distance from town, and an even greater distance from Stellenbosch where Birdlife is. The terminals in the YC are by far the closest and most convenient, if only the link were a bit faster. This evening (11.15pm) the link seems just fine. This morning it was hopeless.

"Just a thought, occured to me the BBC has a 'BIG' relay server in south africa. Unfortunatedly out of reach I understand.
Will show much of the petition link, as only Johns log suggested it exists. Wondering why Carol has not written any replys, she could have known.
At < <./>F106490?thread=328454</.> > someone searching for email contact to John. Does Ardmore have your address? They have mine. Do not publish it overhere anyway to avoid overwhelming reply."
