Perhaps it could be better expressed as you couldn't (past) or won't (future) have your cake and eat it. Time goes all funny at times (repetition intended), especially if the neutrino experiment holds up or held up.
Oh, and el D - I wasn't excluding you personally. I wasn't sure who had lost you - me or the Martians. Or, indeed, both. Or, indeed, all.

I've always found navigating the warps and stretches in the space-time continuum rather trying. And anyway, the crumbs fall down the cracks and get lost. Such a waste.

..., did the homework assignment in post 16, Wikipedia articles only, will agree that they're generally correct, don't have time to nit-pick them point by point just now, though I'd enjoy the process immensely if I did, they mentioned at least one article in the bibliographies I've absolutely got to read... ...and on the observation in post 23, I'd noticed that...
