that's cool...I did a little 'mail-shot' to anyone that joined in the 'voice of god' thread, but so far only 2legs has been in.......hmmm ah well, no biggy - they will come

dugdog <a.k.a. - corla planktun...buffer of the tiny ruby> Posted Mar 4, 2003
I can do you LOADS of zappa...but some might need to be on good old magnetic tape I'm afraid...I'm not sure I'm exactly up to speed with your ref. to 'the remix album'...are you thinking of zappa's universe? My CD zappa collection features all the latest postumous (sp?) releases lather, mystery disk, cheep thrills, return of the son of cheep thrills etc...I'll list them all so you can check 'em out...
ah...so you want the hard-stuff mr. monkey..you'll need to come into the back room for that...suffice to say, I don't have any readily available - but I know a man who does...can't divulge my supplier and the turn around might be a little longer, but I'll see what I can do.....leave it with me ...

hmmm mabe you're right....it's just that emails seem to take care of the social side of our communication..which leaves mainly music type conversation....at the moment...BTW how's Spenda?? teehee
ok - let's pick up the techniques to remain cool in your 30s/40s...how old are you anyway???
and pick up the music theme via the other....
have a good one!!!

also..I keep meaning to ask you.....
what's your stance 'Spaced' by Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson....? (I have my prediction sealed in an a brown paper envelope - upon opening it will prove me to be the new Derren Brown)....!

Spender is doing fine!
My age ..hhhmmmmmm, without giving too much away my *id* on the punk page reads - Old enough to have seen the bands first time around, young enough to still kick your arse!.
With the careful study of dates and punk record releases, you should be able to pin it down within 2 years!
Spaced ............ probably confirming your brown envelope predictions, I thought it ground-breaking and that with the exception of "Father Ted", the best thing I had seen for years.
In fact I now judge everything else by their standards and the only things that have come close are "Black Books" and the recent "Alan Partridge" shows.

re:age hmmmmm can't be arsed to do the maths....(I'm not THAT keen a stalker)....
re:spaced - I was spot on then...reason I mentioned it - I spent a little time over the weekend re-watching bits of series 2 and pissed myself all over again! (so impressed was I the first time around, that I picked up both series on VHS)....genius in my view...beats FT for me...with Black Books a very close second...
have you been watching Book Club?? Didn't grab me at all - but maybe I didn't give it a chance.....other TVhighlights while I'm on the idiot box topic...6 Feet Under - surprisingly subtle for the americans dontcha think?
why am I on a TV thing?? anyway........
*thinks*
Tim and Blibo...

I didn't enjoy the Book Club either ........
but 6 feet Under ? ...... great. All the more surprising that it came from the States.
As the age thing is so obviously concerning you, I'll better keep quiet in case of ageist remarks from you whippersnappers!
Does mrsdugdog still not participate in your 'net chats?
Maybe the fact that you have set up a church of Zappa had put her off!

crumbly! ageist remark 01.
mrsdugdog is a teacher and therefore having her ankles bitten 8 hrs a day and nowhere near a computer....I've explained that h2g2 is not scary...and she has shown some interest, but is generally intimidated by the net and finds it a bit weird....like "what the hell would I say to someone I've never met?" - she has a point - just a quick surf through the forum points to quite alot of inane drivvllllee (how the hell do you spell drivelle...drivle??)...I think it's rare to find the like minded................but she is vaugly intrigued...
as for Zappa - she was a fan before me - in fact one of the reasons we got together was her gatefold Joe's Garage vinyl....and original issue gatefold Hot Rats.....that and her pop up / gatefold copy of JT's Stand Up....ahh true love...

DRIVEL.
Get mrsduddog to post to mrsthewife - she has a radar that keeps her pretty clear of and wierdo's!
Congratulations on finding a partner who likes Zappa - I have to play mine outside in the rain, at the end of the garden.

well, I paint a good picutre of my perfect zappa appreciating carbon based life form type partner type thang....but I have to say, she has been challenged by the more 'out-there' stuff....she'll stretch to Joe's Garage when she's been at the Jamaican Marlboro's...and is always interested..but full-tilt air sculpture over dinner has been known to meet with a disapproving frown...
we've also got a big enough place (luckily) for me to play just exactly whatever the hell I like in the loft, while she watches Eastenders....
sorry to hear about your rain-based zappa appreciation..bummer.

We are still after a bigger place but have decided not to go for the West Country .... too far away, funny accents, wicker man burning at harvest time etc
Instead it looks likely to be Sussex. Still in the country(ish) and half an hour from the sea. I have 10 days off at Easter and we will have a serious delve down there.

sussex is good decent beer (Harvey's) - mrsdugdog's mum lives near Lewes...
spitting distance to Brighton is a good call...

Jean luc Ponty is playing London in June ....... that's the violin geezer from zappa, yeah? While the idea of seeing him makes me shudder, don't you collect his solo stuff?
hey sdm, how do I 'link' you to a 'conversation'...wondered if you had any thoughts
dugdog <a.k.a. - corla planktun...buffer of the tiny ruby> Posted Apr 14, 2003
I suspect he'd be a bit up his own arse...(JLP I mean)...
...the zappa related violin stuff I'm into is Don 'Sugar Cane' Harris..although I've not had the funds of late to be able to strip amazon of the various releases - so the collection is as yet unstarted (it's just a matter of time)....but you're right in remembering the compilation I was doing of zappa/violin bits...
so, cheers anyway...but I'll pass on the JLP...
