Chapter 1: The NAKED city

I still remember the way he looked crouching there in the alleyway next to that bleeping dead alien over his precious human skull. It started out just like any other pleasant sunny day in the city. I could hear the birds chirping their little songs up in the hidden places of the downtown office buildings. Occasionally one would light from its perch and either glide to the next ledge for some unseen treat, or catch the wind and soar silently into a fluffy cloud high above the skyline. I smiled to myself at the thought that there were still a few happy creatures in this world that were untainted by the slime that walked the streets.
There was some sort of demonstration going on down the street in front of a local Mom n’ Pop store. The empty eye sockets of the light grey-green creature stared out blankly into the alleyway towards a large dumpster where someone had scrawled a tribute of love with yellow spray paint… then crossed it out ineffectively with red ochre, changing the name to someone much more deserving I’m sure. These bleeping dead aliens are everywhere. I thought to myself. Oh well, that’s old news. It was to the point that almost nobody noticed them anymore. Nobody really knew where they were coming from, and to be honest, nobody really cared. …so long as they stayed dead anyway, which of course they always did. I cast my eyes over to the second figure in the grimy alleyway. The kneeling man did not look up....
