I watched my first Buffy episodes on the late Friday night shift when this was a feature of the BBC's schedule, and I think that the first ever episode I saw was Graduation Day Part 2, a long time ago in 1999. A big thank you to the BBC for bringing Buffy into the late night lives of the over-teens audience.
Like most people over twenty, I was surpised when I found myself totally addicted to a show that was about teenagers and vampires, having never been more than a casual TV viewer, and never much for horror movies either. Certainly I had never felt so involved in the characters and story space of a TV show that I would use the word "fan" but Buffy has changed the way I thought about TV, teen shows and vampires. And changed the way I thought about myself.
For me, the best seasons so far are Season 4, Season 6 and Season 7, and my favorite episodes are Hush, Once More with Feeling, Restless, The Zeppo Becoming (both parts), Graduation Day (both parts) and Touched/ Chosen. I am a sucker for a good season finale!
My favorite characters are Buffy and Spike. Long may they live, and maybe one day Spike might also breathe! :) Bring on the Shanshu.
I have been lucky enough (or self indulgent enough) to have watched the whole of season 7 on Sky, so I missed the "crunch scheduling" on BBC2. Unfortunately most of the reviews I wrote at the time have since disappeared from this site I guess because they were too old, but it was fun at the time.
I am now watching Angel Season 5 Tuesday nights and would love to talk about this season with anyone who is also following it. I know it is a bit tricky to find our review section for Angel but it is indexed under "Talk Buffy".
