Have you ever been to the musical instruments museum in Brussels?

Indeed many years ago when the museum was still rather chaotic. Must have been 1978 or 79; I had just set up my instrument-making workshop and my work partner and I went on a research trip to Oxford where we measured the Giovanni Maria da Brescia treble viol, Amsterdam where we saw "Life of Brian" and the Hague where we measured a bass viol which we subsequently made a copy of. Having been well treated by the staff at the Ashmolean and the Gemeentes Museum we were miffed at the off-hand treatment of the Brussels staff, so we disregarded the rules and played all the instruments we could get at, obliging a well-mannered English couple to tell their children that they couldn't do what we were doing, because we were allowed to and they weren't.
No doubt it's better run and harder to get at now.
