jaz'd(ace & yada yada *sigh* chocolate yada) Posted Dec 31, 2002
Oh, Terri, you had me practically salivating all over my poor keyboard, just reading about that meal!! Tres bien!!
Hi, kea...notice you're online, right now, hope you're a bit more rested. I know I can spend alot of time at the computer, because you kind of lose track of the time. And, I really have to slow myself down sometimes, when I try to squeeze too much into 1 day .
Hopee things're goin' well, for everybody

yep. i'm online. just had a sleep and then some lunch. its so hot here today i couldn't possibly go outside so what else is there to do but logon
i was impressed by the menu as well and even though i don't handle the hot stuff very well, what a feast !
yaaay vegetarian
(well, it looked vegetarian )
i'm much rested now thank-you both. life is so much easier if i get to have a sleep in the day . when i registered on h2 on xmas day i was like a kid on a cadbury's chocolate factory tour, zooming all over the place, trying everything out, couldn't believe how much fun i was having. forgot i had a body there for a while but it soon let me know

Yes, it did look vegetarian, & I believe Terri had mentioned being vegetarian, kea. It certainly looked/sounded very good in any case! "So hot", do you mind if I ask where you're joining us from?...I'm assuming it's in the southern hemisphere.
Oh, I have to agree, when you first find h2g2, the whole concept of time goes out the window, so to speak. There's so much to see! - sorry, I got a phone call, &got talking for longer than I realized.
Anyway, I'd best get this posted, so I hope, when you read this, that you're both havin' a good day...the last 1 of 2002,right, so be sure to have a Happy New Year, if I don't 'connect' with you tomorrow -I've got to head across town, to visit a friend, so I might not be on til later, ok.
Bye, Darrell
NEW YEAR !
bonne annee jazz and terri
i'm having a wierd day. but am about to indulge in some tv - for once there is something on worth watching. i'm in new zealand, and in the summer the tv programmers think everyone is outside so they put really crap programmes on for a couple of months. then all the good stuff comes on again in march.
southern hemisphere - summer finally hit, yesterday was the first proper hot day. now everyone will have to find something to do other than moan about the weather (a national sport)
goodnight
kea

I'm up a bit late - 'night-hawk' that I am -, & just thought I'd get a reply out, before I'm off to bed. I had kind of thought NZ for some reason ('kea~wi'? .) Anyway, my brother had married an Australian a few years ago, & while they were living in Sydney, they had gone down to NZ, to ski. (No skier smiley?!)

Morning, jazzedupdarrel! All my mates seem to be on-line, but no-one else!
Couldn't sleep 'cos I'm so desperate to start off the new tear with a DANCING ALIEN on my page!
Got the "instructions" (merci beaucoup, thinker!)
Been given the idiots guide to copy & paste
prepared to risk losing the existing page (sod it, it's only words, & probably time for a change anyway!)
BUT I need to know
CAN YOU DO IT IN GOO?
or do you have to come out when you edit then change back after?
As you can see I'm not joking when I say I am a computer virgin!
1ST ONE TO REPLY GETS TO HOLD MY HAND!!!
(not right now though, Buddha wants an to play with)Terri

Oh, believe me, Terri, this modern world of ours has never known a 'computer virgin', like this one...I'm only barely 'computer literate' . So, I don't really know, somehow, I suspect not.
NEW YEAR !

good morning Terri
does that mean you can cut and paste to your page without using guideml ?
am also wondering how you feel about 2 people having an ongoing conversation in your journal space ? is there h2g2 protocol re this ?

HELLO!

1) jazzedupcurry, since he's , so may lose his eyeballs soon:
Enjoy your brunch, I had cold veg curry on toast, yummy!!Still working on the "Chat Masala" idea, now I've entered the world of GuideML a bit, it should make things easier.
2) kea -- no idea what the protocol is on this, I imagine it's up to you what goes on in your journal! The only limit I put personally is that if loads of people start all chatting in different directions & I'm getting totally confused & having to read lots of backlog, I think I might gently suggest people set up separate conversation threads & I'd probably start a new journal entry, which would go to the top of the Journal space. While it's only 2 or 3 people or so, it seems ok to me to do what I've just done with you & jazzedupcurry (I'm talking to you & him in different places as well)
re: pasting & copying etc; this is the 1st time I've done it & I had a LOT of help, from "the thinker" (see my friends list), who is the one who originally put the alien on his home-page. He kindly walked me through the whole thing (see the convo thread "dancing alien" for details of the whole process)
I also had here in person, who actually highlighted the whole bit & transferred it (I was having a nervous breakdown by then!); obviously that helped, he's used to doing copy& paste in his work, but hadn't done it on hootoo before.
Basically, the whole thing is an ongoing learning curve, feel free to join in; we'll probably all make mistakes together, but that's probably the best way to learn.
My next step is to hunt down the page I spotted somewhere very early on (probably on the h2g2tour, via the front page, highly recommended); which takes you to the h2g2 Picture Library, loads of exciting pics you can use on your space, that one will keep you amused for hours! When I find it I'll try to put a "clicky link" as a PS to this, then you can go straight to it (& so can I!)
kea, can't remember if I've put you on my friends list yet; if I haven't, do you mind if I do? Makes it much easier to go straight to your page (feel free to add me to yours)
Phew!off to see what else is happening, I'll no doubt bump into you later!
Terri
ps: I always keep notes on good old fashioned pen & paper, otherwise I'd be hopelessly lost!

No, I haven't put you on my friends list yet (I knew I'd forgotten something!)
Off to find pretty pictures.

i found this page - A395552 - how to write entries in guideML. its much better than the guideML clinic which assumes you now alot already.
your thread with the thinker was the best !
i'm off for a nap soon

YO! welcome to my friends list!
Briefly scanned what you'd written about sitting on your porch in the sun, birds etc. Got a huge wave of nostalgia for when I used to do likewise in Africa & other tropical places
I must get round to writing some proper stuff about my times abroad, hootoo's definitely the place to do it!
Enjoy your snooze, hope you're lucky enough to be like me & able to arrange your life around when you FEEL like sleeping, not according to the timetables imposed by the "outside world"
Terri
(ps for the guideml ref: I'll probably look at it tomorrow, I feel a bit of brain-death creeping up tonight!)
