Hiya...

After spectacually failing my end of term exam I now have plenty of time to start the birmingham researchers club... I've created a new User ID for the club and I was wondering how to give it to you?

God, bad luck with the exam!smiley - sorry I bet it was that scrotum wot did it, doesn't do to go looking at those things too closely I reckon!
Will you be able to take it again?

Sorry I haven't been in touch for ages, as you can see by the pretty badge at the side I've been busy! (the book review is STILL on the list!!)

Also started up a new site, for anyone affected by disorders of the nervous system (like me, I've got what seems to be GBS); please go & have a look if you've got time:
De Myelin Nation A889194
Lighthousegirl would no doubt be interested, I thought her M.E entry was BRILLIANT, see the conversations below it, this could really get things going!

So the Brum Club got put on the back boiler while all this was going on; but I did try & resurrect it yesterday. Still got the original list etc.; still interested! So please go ahead & let me know the latest here.

A VERY big smiley - ta for all your hard work, great to hear from you!

Nice one Z!

I've still got the list of original "signed up" members (14 at the last count), I could type them here, but it's probably just as easy for you to get it from the original "new thread for would-be Brummies" F19585?thread=225793&latest=1
Hope to god I've put that link in right; I still find it an absolute PAIN, I'm to numbers what you are to spelling! (I've now got a dyslexic newbie by the way, very nice, name of Eo... can't find the number!! I'll add it... if you want to say hello. I told hi/r the only time spelling mattered was when you do smileys or links & to preview before posting if necessary.
Having said that, one of the times it probably IS a good idea is on a new home page!! The De Myelin Nation has a couple of clangers, so does smiley - bus; but I'm more than usually observant! Should I offer to proof-read, or might this cause offence? It's just that I feel we've all got different skills -- I CERTAINLY couldn't create an actual page like you & moose have! Anyway, let me know what you think (to show how little I know, don't even know how to put those nice drop-down lists either!)I could add the names themselves, but if we want their comments I'm told you have to copy & paste!smiley - huh (can do in RL only!)

Thanks for your nice words re: DMN! Do spread the word & go & sign our guest book! (you don't have to have personal experience of the wretched thing, just be interested/ know someone affected etc.)

The GBS (if that's what it in fact is ... part of the frustration is that "diagnostic labels" don't conveniently attach themselves) isn't too bad really in my case. Certainly limits me physically, & can be a real PAIN in the a*se... or the feet... or the legs... or the ears... or just about anywhere it bloody well chooses basically! The unpredictability is the worse part for me; but in some ways it could actually be said to have improved me as a person; use my brain instead of my body a bit more (not that I was ever the sporty type anyway!!)

As a medico, you'd probably relate to this:
It occurs to me there are all the ingredients here for a perfect research project: subjects from varied parts of the world, all female so far, one is that gift to research -- a twin parted when young (also 9 other siblings all reared separately!) all of us vegetarian to a greater/ lesser degree etc. etc.
It fascinates me (I did Social Biology at Uni) & occurs to me that hootoo could be an amazing pool of knowledge (as long as it didn't go too far of course, not everyone aspires to being a guinea-pig!)

What are your views on all this? What sort of Dr do you want to be; or haven't you got that far yet?

Anyway, gone on far too long, but one last favour PLEASE!!
Trying to resurrect the "Happy Birthday" thread, only a week to go!
Please spread the word, it's at F19585?thread=226748&latest=1

I'm glad to here that the GBS isn't really a problem for you, you certainly come across as a really cheerful person on here!

oOh and please please please proof read smiley - bus I really need you too...

I've made a list of all the researchers and I'm just dropping by to let them know where the homepage is!

Hi smiley - ta for all the proof reading that is sooooooooo much help, my dyslexic is starting to show. Just to let you know there's a nice gadget on Guide Ml that automatically rearranges a list of numbers smiley - blush so I didn't have to retype them all!!!!

Glad I could help! If you need proof reading again just let me know.
I'm not perfect though; & I have to admit I kept checking spelling s with Chan-Mick ( he's French for god's sake!! But he does translate books for a living, so he's used to this sort of thing!)

Glad the numbers weren't a pain! I'll smiley - run over & have a look.
