Good Morning, Dolfrog,
Thanks for your entry on A.P.D.
May I add it to my useful links entry? I'm the Mum of an 8yr old recently diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, A.D.H.D & Tourettes Syndrome. He is certainly affected by external stimuli and I wonder if any info I have would be of use to your Research and/or Mission. I have no p.c. which leaves h2g2 or e.mail as only communication. Please let me know if I can be of any help.
Bye for now...
Peace-Dove

Good evening Peace-Dove

You can add any of my APD links to your useful links entry.
My whole mission is to provide information about the invisible Disabilities especially APD (Auditory Processing Disorder)
On my LDLinks web site I have pages of useful links for both ADhD and Aspergers, and more http://wwwldlinks.org.uk The domain address is a new idea, the site itself has been online for almost 3 years now.

On my UK Invisible Disabilty web site I also have a Tourettes page, the main thrust of this site though is as a guide to the UK Education system for parent of children with Learning Disabilities from Dyslexia to Autism http://www.geocities.com/dolfrog/index.html

Many of these Disabilities overlap each other, and some even mask others. This masking espeically happens with APD, and so many APDs are miss diagnosed as Dyslexic, ADD, or even Autistic.

We at APDUK, the new voluntary organsation, which is seeking Registered Charity Status, are trying to promote a transdisciplined approach to the diagnosis and care for those who suffer from invisible disabilties. Such an approach may require a panel of professionals, expert in the various disabilities, at local levels, so that the sufferers have their disability correctly diagnosed.
Many have a package of disabilities, each of which needs to be identified, which does not always happen. Some professionals may not be aware of disabilites outside of heir remit, ans so may not consider all the problems a sufferer may have. This panel approach would hopefully eliminate this narrow form of diagnosis curently practiced in the UK. It would also hopefuly decrease the size of the Leaky dyslexic umbrella, and the over inflated Autistic Spectrum. There are many Invisible Disabilites which need to be identified and recognised in their own right.

I am rambling on again, which is part of my own APD.

best wishes

dolfrog

Thank you Dolfrog,
For the information. I agree with your views, as we have found the whole saga of "diagnosis" such a long and arduous tale. After 8 years, we finally met Dr Steer Paediatrician/Neurologist at Kirkaldy's Royal Victoria Hosp, who has proved to be the "Tops" in diagnosing the many psychological disabilities, as well as differentiating the overlapping of syndromes/symptoms. I find your work most interesting, and will research it further. :0)
Thank you for the time & effort which you afford the children and parents.
Peace to you.smiley - peacedove
