"If you stood on the bottom rail of a bridge and leant over, and watched the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you would suddenly know everything that there is to be known."
Doesn't Winnie the Pooh speak such words of wisdom?
Welcome to Skyebluepink's space. I love all things mediaeval (having done a degree in English Literature and mediaeval history in the most beautiful of Scottish towns) and I love to write fiction. Musically I play the flute and keyboard, and I love to listen to all types - from classical to dance, from chillout to cheesy pop to Coldplay.
Not only do I love to write and to daydream, but I am a complulsive book hoarder. Harry Potter is a work of genius, as is William Langland's Piers Plowman, although the latter is excruciatingly difficult - I found this in a book which sums it up:
" How can a text be understood when the condition for its understanding is already to have understood what it is about?"
Read it though. If you get to the end it will change the way you think about life. And read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. They're profound, moralising but a great laugh too. And then my very favourite - Jane Austen - she writes with so sharp a wit you need to be careful.
Of couse too I just like to watch TV - Bad Girls, Emmerdale, Graham Norton, Friends, Big Brother, Casualty, Ally McBeal. My favourite film is Moulin Rouge. I would so love to have been part of the Bohemian Revolution in Paris in 1900 (Apollinaire's poetry is responsible for that) and the film is so sensual, sumptuous, decadent and colourful. A feast for the eyes and ears.
And whether I'm dancing, chatting to friends or just slobbing in front of the TV it is all helped by a nice cool gin and tonic with ice and lime (if not lemon will do) or a bottle of wine - red, white, rose? I'm happy with anything!
